In 1990, the world watched Kanesatake fight for sovereignty against the Canadian military. Today, a new battle is unfolding in plain sight. With biker gangs exploiting legal grey zones, who is left to protect the community? Story by Kenneth Jackson. aptnnews.ca?p=296319

I’m not in the industry, but certainly am a consumer I think the reality is this isn’t the kind of stuff that politicians win votes for it’s not shiny other than the initial win, but they’re shortsightedness is stifling an industry that could contribute significantly to the GDP

Credit to @Conservative_BC for recognizing cannabis as an economic opportunity in their just released election platform. An approach that supports jobs, investment and a competitive legal market while protecting consumers deserves support across party lines.

1) A trade deficit is not a loss 2) The deficit with Canada was $27B last year, not the $90B he keeps using 3) The deficit with Canada exists because American companies buy a lot of cheap Canadian oil 4) Uh, what

Trump: I do not want to lose $90 billion for the privilege of allowing Canada to have a healthcare system and other things that they shouldn't have. They spend our money!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The statement in the video misstates the US-Canada trade deficit as a $90B loss subsidizing healthcare; the goods and services deficit was $27B in 2025 and stems mainly from US purchases of Canadian oil while Canada's system is funded by its own taxes. usafacts.org/articles/us-ca… canada.ca/en/health-cana… realeconomy.rsmus.com/market-minute-… ustr.gov/countries-regi…

Everyone in #cannabis, in every country, should read this sober analysis from @drowbb @StratCann. How did Canada’s world-leading cannabis public policy go wrong? Lots of answers here. Dust off your French. The column is a both a *tour de force* & a *cri de coeur*. Good, David. 🤘

"For years, industry leaders have approached policy advocacy like a hostage negotiation rather than nuanced diplomacy, often prioritizing short-term shareholder plays over long-term policy progress." Great piece from @drowbb

Cannabis, one of Canada’s most important cash crops since first made legal for adult use, 2018. Cannabis legalisation transformed from <1% total farm receipts 2016 to a competitor with soybeans & corn, outpacing durum wheat, barley, lentils & tobacco. stratcann.com/news/cannabis-…
