A patient with IVC atresia rolled into my office in a wheelchair. No options were offered for years. Successful IVC reconstruction. One week later, walked into my office for followup! One month later, living his best life, no pain and no limitations. #chogazi #irad #vascular #cardiotwitter @SIRRFS @SIR_ECS @SIRspecialists @VascularSVS @farkomd @AmputationSuck @ChengaziMD
The @_backtable app is super easy to use and intuitive. It’s been a great resource for me as my practice grows the MSK IR space. Check out my playlist that got everything started. backtable.com/playlists/b223…

That’s a wrap for the inaugural @clotsheadtotoe ! It was amazing to participate & witness multidisciplinary conversations around thrombus management #headtotoe! What a stellar faculty at the one & only conference focused solely on CLOTS & that too at the happiest place on Earth!
Fantastic turn out for the CLOTS: Head to Toe meeting. I’m honored to be part of the faculty @clotsheadtotoe . We had very engaging conversations all about CLOTS and the future directions of head to toe clot management.
Great turn out at CLOTS! @clotsheadtotoe . More thought provoking discussions this weekend. Fantastic work to all the folks behind the scenes. Stay tuned to get TIPSy with @ChengaziMD

Ended the week with a great PEN FLASH 3.0 case. Up and over and able to treat the infrapopliteal confluence and the saphenous collaterals. Went PTV and flossed from above (felt like an arterial case!) Treating the inflow may shift the paradigm!
venous disease experts need to be well versed in multiple techniques/devices. Still need better way to treat chronic distal fem/pop disease!
@clotsheadtotoe TIME!! See everyone in Orlando!

Cold weather and shoveling can promote clotting. Do some risk management and come to Orlando Jan 17-18th for the CLOTS: Head to Toe conference. There will be interventional legends speaking! @clotsheadtotoe

What's going on here?
Why did we place an IVC filter for a patient with Acute Limb Ischemia?
Every vascular interventionalist will eventually encounter this condition:
*Paradoxical embolism*
A clot from the venous system ends up in the arterial system through a right-to-left shunt 🫀
After IVC filter placement, arterial lytic + aspiration was performed, with a good outcome.
Keep this condition in the back of your mind when you consider acute limb ischemia causes! 🧠

🔍 ** Question:**
What are the longitudinal effects of genicular artery embolization (GAE) on biomarkers implicated in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) pathogenesis?

Great example of rapid intervention with CAVT, there is a Goldilocks of French size needed for these cases. What is your preferred? 16, 20, 24?!

Thoracic central vein obstruction is increasingly device-related. Endovascular recanalization and stent reconstruction enable rapid symptom relief and durable patency when guided by meticulous imaging, planning, and technique. bit.ly/3LYvS8Z

This might be the most badass brief report I’ve read in a long time.
In @NEJM
A team just published what feels like a glimpse straight into the future of cellular therapeutics: successful survival and function of transplanted allogeneic, CRISPR-edited beta cells with zero immunosuppression — in a real human with long-standing type 1 diabetes.
No anti-rejection meds.
No immune flare.
Glucose-responsive insulin secretion documented weeks after implantation.
A clean safety profile.
This is the kind of translational science that makes you think about how close we might be to rewriting what’s possible in autoimmune and metabolic disease.
Medicine is moving fast. This is one of those papers that makes you feel it.
