I’m at the Park right now. Some old man just came up and sat on my lap, and he’s talking to me as if I’m Santa. I don’t know what to do. Help.

I dug into the research on homework for my latest for @substack and found its benefits, well, lacking. There's no good evidence that homework in elementary school helps kids learn — and there's growing evidence that it widens the achievement gap. melindawmoyer.substack.com/p…

Four years ago today—Republicans in the US House voted to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, which was keeping me alive. Republicans in 12 states are still refusing to expand Medicaid, which means 4 million Americans are going without health care. thenation.com/article/politi…

GOP Tax Scam exploded the debt by $2,000,000,000,000 (two trillion). 83 percent of the benefits went to the wealthiest one percent. Remember that this week when Republicans lecture us about fiscal responsibility.

This is a thread on the Romney Child Tax Credit plan. My hope is that somehow it will find its way to liberal commentators who feel an almost giddy impulse to tell their many followers that the Romney proposal is better or just as good or close enough to the Biden proposal

This is Monica Smith, a 45-year-old Indiana woman who was in a serious car wreck in 2016. She had health insurance. The hospital refused to bill it, instead pursuing her for $12,856. How'd that happen? Her story is the wildest medical bill saga I've seen in months. (1/13)

Nothing says Mitch McConnell like filibustering to keep the filibuster.

These tweets are infuriating. In 2009 “Democrats” could have abolished the filibuster- they had enough votes. Today they do not. There are at least 5 in the Dem caucus that oppose- Manchin, Sanders, Sinema, Kelly and Coons. Name the actual names.
Democrats can expand democracy, or they can keep the filibuster. But that's the choice. If they choose to keep the filibuster, they are saying the filibuster is more important than all of this — and this is what they promised voters, this is what they say their party stands for.
