We welcomed new school counselors & college & career readiness coaches this week! Our SC & CCRC leaders presented to our new teachers during O.N.E., and 2 SCs presented on data @ASCAtweets in N.O. We are off 2 a phenomenal SY28 in the C&D Dept! @NHE_HCS @advisementhcs @UGE_HCS

My older brother missed my graduation.
No call. No message. Nothing.
Everyone kept asking, “Where is he?” and I just kept smiling, as if it didn’t matter, but it did.
That night, I muted his contact.
Three days later, there was a knock on our door.
He stood there tired, unshaven, holding a small wrapped box.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I couldn’t leave the site. If I didn’t finish that job, they wouldn’t pay me and I needed the money for this.”
Inside the box was a simple wristwatch.
“I wanted you to have something that reminds you. Your time is just starting.”
I didn’t know whether to cry or feel guilty.
Sometimes, people don’t show up the way we expect them to.
But it doesn’t mean they didn’t care.

St. Patrick’s Day fun yesterday in small group was all about building Executive Functioning skills! We practiced packing book bags with the items we need - focusing on organization, planning, and prioritizing. We also explored the brain and how it supports EF! @drchonhester

The AAS counselors recently hosted a CTAE/Fine Arts Pathway Showcase, giving students the opportunity to share what they’re learning as sophomores and juniors prepare to re-register for the 2026–27 school year.
Families are invited to continue the conversation at the AAS Open House & Registration on January 20, 2026, or January 29, 2026, from 5:30–7:30 PM, where students can explore CTAE, Fine Arts, and Dual Enrollment pathways available to Henry County Schools students.
