reading this made me realize the average player feels LESS and LESS in control of the narrative through each progressive chapter. it narratively feels like going deeper into the dark forest.

i think if deltarune is interested in examining player-game relationships it makes sense there's a feeling of back and forth between which of the two has the "upper hand," in such a way undertale genocide even tried to do with its ending
in all my years i've always heard this track as heartbeats... never seen anyone interpret this noise in this track as footsteps especially when the main liminal sfx (as in the one that transitions us in and out of the game) is a heartbeat...
2015-2016 undertale mightve been the last time i saw a fandom happy to expand on the original work in such a self indulgent and imaginative way that it calls to mind what it felt like for me being a touhou fan in the late 00s-early 2010s reading translated doujinshi on danbooru
idk i just be seein media like Undertale get picked apart for literary truth in a vacuum way too often these days?
i guess its the problem with smth such as UT/DR that draws inspo from works with blurry setting and lore, AND wants to inspire that same haven for imagination--
and like one can absolutely make objective statements about even smth subjective like art but an interpretation of the audiovisual experience is never going to be the truth.
