Terminal, carrier and rail don't always agree on a container's last free day.
Terminal49 now shows every one side by side, earliest first: POD LFD for the port, IND LFD for inland. Plus an estimated LFD when the carrier hasn't published one yet.

“Om was never impressed by who someone was, what they’d previously accomplished, what grand wealth they’d garnered, or stature they’d achieved. It’s human nature to be overwhelmed by awe in the presence of great people. Om was not. To impress Om, you needed to deliver impressive new work. He was impervious to riptides of hype. Those are superpowers in this racket.”

Mira Murati says frontier AI should be built like a tandem bike:
"Having humans in the loop doesn't quite describe it because it sounds like a checkpoint where we're signing off something, and then you're good to go."
"It's more like creating systems that are not just autonomously advancing and leaving civilization behind, but are more like a tandem bike."
"When you're going up a hill, maybe whoever is stronger is pedaling harder. But both hands are on the wheel. That's quite important because that's a different system. It's a system designed for collaboration."
"It will increase the level of agency that people have, and also it will help us steer the research direction towards creating outputs that are more value-aligned."

Susan and I believe the smartest investment we can make is in children. That’s why we’re so excited to contribute $6.25 billion from our charitable funds to help 25 million children start building a strong financial foundation through Invest America. 💪📈🇺🇸

YC renamed group partners to general partners..
Because that's what they actually are. Investors in the company for life.
This moves YC partners away from the old narrative about YC as summer camp, with camp counselors who you never see again after demo day.
YC partners will understand each business deeply, who their customers are and then they are able to ask the right questions, as a sounding board outside your day to day.
The other piece is the batch itself. 150 companies per batch, all top 1% founders who went through the same selection process. They help each other constantly.
Garry's actually given the example of when he went through YC with Posterous, they became friends with the Heroku founders. Heroku helped them raise their seed round and gave advice on scaling.
Six months later, Heroku had a problem. They thought Posterous's codebase might not run on their platform and asked for GitHub access to debug it.
Posterous gave it to them…! Can you imagine meeting someone at a regular vc conference and giving them your codebase lol.
A lot of relationships between YC batch mates is built on so much mutual trust that help is always there.
While I am primarily an investor in YC companies I still hear+see tons of other deals from other accelerators / ecosystems and I don’t see the same compounding network anywhere else but YC… it’s much closer to something like a permanent support structure where your batch mates and partner stay with you indefinitely.
I think this is another reason why we are seeing post-PMF companies willing to take the dilution.

Eyeglasses aren’t opioids. There’s no reason we should need to see an optometrist to buy glasses. You don’t in the rest of the world, and you didn’t in the US either until optometrists lobbied aggressively under the banner of “public safety.”
For decades, opticians, trained with just a few weeks of coursework, tested vision and sold glasses directly, just like they still do in Europe, Asia, and most of the world. Outside the US, vision correction (opticians) is kept separate from medical eye care (ophthalmology). In the US, we created the field of optometry and then they lobbied hard to take over vision correction because there is more money in selling glasses than in doing medical tests.
By the 1970s, every state required prescriptions, shutting out opticians and cementing an optometrist monopoly.
The result: in Europe you can walk into a shop, get tested, and leave with glasses for about $50 all-in. In the US, you are forced into a $200 exam and $300 frames. What should be simple and cheap has been turned into a racket, and consumers pay the price.
Much like barber licensing (some states require 2,000 hours of training just to braid hair), this kind of gatekeeping drives up costs without protecting consumers. Vision correction should be cheap and accessible, not locked behind a monopoly!

In a world of instant gratification, particularly when it comes to sport, the drama of Test cricket is something which must be preserved at all costs. It is everything sport should be, unscripted, unpredictable, unbeatable. #ENGvIND
