I picked up the first to Mofi releases for Rush. The more expensive versions are coming with A Farewell To Kings....

Little bit of yard work, and some power groove to kick in a little adrenaline.

I can't believe I just heard Blind in Texas being played on the TNFootball broadcast.

I've never been an autograph chaser. But when a buddy offered sell/trade them for cheap, I couldn't pass it up.
Heaven & Hell signed by RJD, Geezer, Bill & Tony.
The debut signed by Tony.

Today's playlist. Got a fair amount of paperwork done and vinyl spun.
Don't have any Venom vinyl unfortunately.
Had a smattering of styles today. The new Anthrax, Miscreance and Green Lung, along with Defenders, SAP & LZ(I was craving Dazed & Confused).

4 notable album anniversaries today.
Dirt, just an amazing album
Black Gives Way to Blue, shocked me because I didn't think there was any way they'd have a 2nd go
Somewhere in Time, that and Piece of Mind are my favorite Maiden. Wicked songwriting
Core, so many good songs and deep cuts on this.

Joe Holmes s/t
I first saw Joe on the Ozzmosis tour. I thought he was really good, having multiple pairs of tough shoes to fill(he had taken guitar lessons from some guy named Randy). He also played with DLR after Jason Becker fell ill.
Walk on Water was the only Ozzy song with him on it, but he got a few co-writes on Down To Earth.
Prior to Ozzy he'd been with Lizzy Borden for one album,
Since then, there was one release in 2015(Farmikos).
This is technically his first solo album, but it has mostly the same lineup as Farmikos: Robert Locke vox, Robert Trujillo bass(James learned to share?), and now Mike Bordin on the kit.
I've only played it once & my first impression..... Sharon should have let this guy write Down To Earth, rather than the 'production team' method that took over from then on.
It's a blend of hard heavy subgenres, not sure what I'd define it as, but I definitely recommend checking it out.

Miscreance 'Reminiscence'
I loved their last album, had to grab the follow up.
Killer extreme metal(death metal +) from Italy.

3 Sabbath/family tree release anniversaries today.
Never Say Die (78)
No Rest For the Wikked(88)
DEP Sessions (04)
All 3 are underrated imo.

Two Sabbath Anniversaries today.
Vol4(72) & TekEx(76)
V4 is my fav Sab Album, and I rank TE higher than most(love You Won't Change Me).

Finally snagged the 1980 NEMS white label promo for Paranoid.
I just need the (so frikkin difficult to find) 1970 Red label promo to complete the Japan presses.
(that I know of anyways, I've never seen a promo for the '74 or '75).

#onthisday
Two killer albums were released on this date, Peace Sells in 1986, and NOLA in 1995.
Peace Sells is the first thrash album I ever bought, shortly after seeing the video on HBB. I'd soon get Puppets and RTL, but this came first. I didn't know what thrash was, I just knew this was cool AF.
I was a little late on Down. I just discovered Pantera around the time NOLA came out. I remember initially being shocked how completely different it was than Pantera, and eventually loving it exactly because of that.
These 2 are definitely my favorite from each of these two bands.
@cubs2b23 @AV4APod @Vol4Recording @pieceofmind03
Four releases I noticed last night that caught my eye(besides Anthrax which I've been waiting on).
Blodtår
Ch'ahom
Revel In Flesh
Game Over
September is turning out to be a stellar month for great album releases over the years.
09/15 was the drop date for the last Death album Sound of Perseverance(98) @
(Imo) the best Megadeth album over the past 30 years, Endgame(09).
These are both must haves in any metal collection imo.
Got a chance to spin Endgame today.

So of course I released an anniversary post for Worship Music and Surgical Steel...... and don't mention my the first Sabbatg album that I bought new upon release...... BORN AGAIN
I don't care about the production complaints. I like the songs, and I love Gillan's voice with Tony & Co.
In fact, Ian Gillan is my second favorite Sab vocalist.
Zero the Hero, Disturbing The Priest, Born Again, Trashed..... fugedaboudit.

On this day in 2013 Carcass released Surgical Steel. A damn good album imo, as I find most Carcass albums to be.
And in 2011 Anthrax finally accepted the fact that they did better business with Joey. Worship Music was better than I'd hoped for(the follow up was even better, and this next one better be worth the decade wait).

Besides Blizzard, there's a few more notable anniversaries of album releases.
1975 Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd. I'm undecided between this and DSOTM as my top PF.
1989 Pump, Aerosmith. This is easily my fav of the polished era.
2008 Death Magnetic. My fav of theirs since Justice, maybe TBA.
@cubs2b23 @AV4APod @Cigaro556 @pieceofmind03
46 years ago today, John Osbourne got a second kick at the can with the release of Blizzard of Ozz.
Randy & Daisley were the perfect cohorts to help create a classic. It's no accident that many of these songs were mainstays in the setlist till the end(even though I always wished he would mix it up more). Deeper cut Steal Away is one my favorites, especially the live version ok Tribute. I rank Diary a smidge higher, but I really think they're two A+ chapters of the same book.
