There are certain decisions that will go down as history-defining moments. This is one of them. It's a terrible misjudgment of Putin, who has made it clear he wants to destroy the West. We shouldn't help him do it.

I agree with @davidsirota. After the midterms, the Dem party needs to go all in with their progressive left. As a NeverTrumper (temporary) Democrat, that’s not where I am, but I don’t matter. That’s where the energy is in the Dem party, that’s where the reform is, that’s where Dem righteous anger is. The corporate Dem establishment sucks. Give the progressives their shot. And don’t tell me progressives can’t win nationally. That’s what people said about Trump & MAGA. They were wrong. Dems should follow their energy. And it’s on the left. Fuck the Dem establishment. They’ve failed. As a former Tea Party guy, I can say that we (the Tea Party) succeeded because the Republican establishment failed.

This is article doesn't address the reality of the next two years. It pretends Democrats will have power they won't have and pretends Trump cares about the deficit or prices. Prices are going back up because Republicans are afraid of their leader. Democrats will at least keep the courts busy trying to stop him from spending. That alone makes Ds the more rational choice for nonpartisans.

Zelensky and Ukraine will be the scapegoat, as always. The regnant American Right is a study in moral idiocy. The Reagan conservatives may be few, but we need them more than ever.
Trump ATTACKS President Zelensky: “Zelensky has to do one thing, he has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia. He's causing a shortage of diesel fuel. This isn't done by the Middle East, this is done by what's happening with Russia and Ukraine."

Here’s a list of Scott Bessent’s wrong predictions and/or promises that didn’t happen: February 5, 2025: Long-term interest rates would come down as Trump’s economic policies took effect. Spring 2025: The federal deficit would move toward 3% of GDP. Spring 2025: Trump’s policies would produce roughly 3% sustained real GDP growth. July 8, 2025: The U.S. would collect well over $300 billion in tariff revenue in 2025. September 1, 2025: The Supreme Court would uphold Trump’s emergency tariffs. September 7, 2025: The economy would see a “substantial acceleration” in Q4 2025. December 7–16, 2025: 2025 would finish with 3% to 3.5% real GDP growth. December 16, 2025: Inflation would see a substantial drop in the first six months of 2026. February 20, 2026: The economy could grow at least 3.5% in 2026. April 14, 2026: 2026 GDP growth could easily exceed 3% or 3.5%. April 14, 2026: Core inflation was falling and the Federal Reserve would need to cut interest rates. April 14, 2026: Trump’s tariffs could be restored to their previous levels by the beginning of July. June 2026: Again maintained that 2026 growth could reach roughly 3% to 3.5%. 2025–26: Lower energy prices, fiscal restraint and Trump’s policies would bring down long-term Treasury yields. 2025–26: Faster growth and tariff revenue would materially improve the federal deficit. And now we get to track this one: September 5, 2026: Oil could eventually fall to $40–$50 per barrel after the Iran war ends. The economy is now “in the liftoff phase.”
Lara Trump asks Bessent what’s his message for the midterms. He responds by claiming that oil prices could drop to $40-$50. “We are in the liftoff phase”

Milo Yiannopoulos tells Piers Morgan what it was like to be detained by ICE. "I didn't really understand the physical reality of how institutionalised the brutality is in America." "Everybody is arrested like a MS-13 gang member. And it hurts a lot more than it looks like on television"

There is a certain dramatic effect in presenting data without comment. But I do have some comments. The charitable giving data is from 2013 federal tax returns that were itemized. That year only 30% of filers itemized their returns. Southern states itemized at a lower rate than many other parts of the country. This data shows what wealthier families are giving across the country. It does not show charitable giving rates across the country since it excludes giving by 70% of the population. I don't want to reduce the value of any charitable contributions but the data presented requires context.
Presented without comment.

Holy shit. Donald Trump says he just repaved the entire White House with “flawless white granite.” Literally millions of Americans work two jobs and are still in poverty. But so glad Trump is living in luxury on our dime. 🙄

Wonderful that any children have been returned but we're talking about 20k children taken by Russia with reports of forced indoctrination. With only 34 children reunited after a year of Melania's efforts, this feels like a cruel Putin pacification tactic.

How do you respond to Ossoff about you traveling with Natalie? Trump: uh [redirect] PeeWee, oval office renovations, military bunker, ballroom, building a beautiful facility.
Reporter: Ossoff said you'd rather travel with your aide Natalie Harp and build the ballroom than do your job as president. What is your response? Trump: You mean Pee-Wee Herman?

Messed up as a kid, did his time and went clean, had a work permit and a good family life. Decades later, no crime, no trial, just indefinite prison in an small African country. The Soviets at least pretended to have a criminal trials before people disappeared. nytimes.com/2026/08/12/magaz…

Reminds me of George Costanza pushing old women and kids to the ground to fend for themselves during a fire. Dated reference so here's the clip: youtu.be/GYcySgjWGIw?is=yk_m…
In 2000, an AF1 switch included briefing the press about the decoy. In 2026, Trump made them the decoy. Nothing says "America First" like sending your cabinet and journalists into the sky as human shields while you flee in a catering truck with Natalie "human printer" Harp and Pete Hegseth. JB Pritzker nailed it: "He put people in harm's way to save himself; that's who Donald Trump is."

As a moderate I'm surprised to see a centrist Dem like @MichaelLaRosaDC actively support a pro Trump candidate, within a party already overtaken by authoritarian leanings in a tight fight for chamber control, just to spite a candidate in his own party whose views would be completely drowned out in the Senate. At least for the next two years Trump will have veto power and a Senate under Democrats would still be very moderate. A contained Trump will likely reduce the extremist pendulum a bit. A lot of reasons to not weigh in at all. Based on the information available it looks like an odd calculation.
Michael LaRosa, Press Secretary to former First Lady Jill Biden, endorses Mike Rogers over Abdul El-Sayed for US Senate in Michigan.

Remember this isn't indecisiveness, it's strategic. She's getting something out of it or she's making sure they have the votes to confirm so she can vote no.

This is the sort is thing that should make it blatantly obvious to anyone that Trump saying "so and so would have wanted it" is entirely pulled from thin air in that moment. Graham was not dumb enough to suggest there's any value in taxing imports from a country we don't trade with.
Trump: "I'd like them to add Iran as tariffs, not just sanctions. That's what Lindsey wanted. I'd like to see tariffs on Iran. That's really what Lindsey wanted."

Literally this week Homan admitted this 70% number was false
Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the United States.  Yesterday, the brave men and women of ICE risked their lives to arrest illegal criminal aliens convicted for attempted murder of a federal law enforcement officer, lewd or lascivious acts with a child, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary:
