uBiome and Theranos were actual financial frauds. @MicrobiomDigest helped uBiome by publishing 5 papers to add legitimacy to the founders insurance billing scheme for SmartJane and SmartGut. The indicted co-founders were Bik’s co-authors and teammates at uBiome. There was a 6th paper that Bik wrote that claimed the same poop and vagina sample could have tests reliably rerun on it. This paper was marketed in preprint and never published to peer review, but the “upgrading” scheme was a core charge in the indictment. uBiome used Bik’s papers to add legitimacy to their “clinical” tests. She claims she quit on moral grounds but she published 3 papers (one correction) with the founders after she left and one after the FBI raided uBiome. There was also a layoff in the timeframe she quit…🤔
Theranos tricked investors out of money. More than 200 blood tests that Theranos advertised could not be performed on the company's specially developed “Edison” machine while results of the few tests it could handle were flawed and unreliable.
Short sellers and competitors of $sava ran into the FDA, SEC, DOJ, and ORI/HHS falsely screaming Theranos 2.0 and failing to disclose their conflicts of interest. The whole thing is a HOAX to profit from a short position, slow down a competitor and get whistleblower money. Now @schrag_matthew, @Thatsregrettab1 and Bik are trying to do it again to a stroke treatment. This charade must be stopped.
