I have spoken 8 different languages in the last 24 hours.
Just had a wonderful conversation in Arabic with my new friend Taher.
He is a Syrian refugee.
I spoke perfect Arabic to him.
He spoke perfect English to me.
I taught him how Americans shake hands.
A firm handshake 🤝 with direct eye contact. 👀
He lit my cigarette. 🚬
I knew it was a compliment.
I was able to communicate how in America lighting another man’s cigarette can be an insult depending on the context.
He told me how he is headed to Arizona to stay and build a new life.
That he works laying tile in buildings.
I smoked one of his cigarettes from Jordan. 🇯🇴
He had his first Camel Crush. 🐪
