Accessibility is providing inclusive services even to those with disabilities. Constructing public and private buildings accessible to PWDs and also providing assistants to those with impairments.
Let's not #LeaveNoOneBehind as we reflect on this.🤗 #KDFest26

Disability inclusion must go beyond statistics. We need accessible services, equal opportunities and policies that respond to the realities of persons with disabilities, especially women and girls.

State of Disability in Uganda🇺🇬
According to the 2024 Census estimated that approximately 13.2% of Uganda’s population (5.5 million) live with a disability. This is consistent with 2022 national estimates of about 14%, with slightly higher rates among women. Functional-difficulty surveys from 2022–2024 show a higher picture: 32–33% of adults report at least one difficulty, mostly seeing (19–20%), mobility (13–14%), and cognition (13%). Rates are higher in urban poor communities.
As for the campaign #LeaveNoOneBehind #KDFest26 responds to this gap by creating a space for empowerment, engagement, and economic connection for young people with disabilities and those affected by disability-Patrick Wasajja team leader KDF

In the *1995 Constitution of Uganda (as amended)*, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) are protected in both the *National Objectives and Directive Principles* and the *Bill of Rights (Chapter 4)*.
National Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy.
- Objective XVI - Recognition of the dignity of PWDs "Society and the State shall recognise the right of persons with disabilities to respect and human dignity."

Are you doing something to eliminate discrimination against PWDs?
As it's written "You were created in my image, says the Lord".

Note that Policymakers provide the *framework*, beneficiaries provide the *direction and validation*. Let's embrance what's written by law.

As we keep an eye on #KDFest26, let's remember that policies should be more inclusive, realistic, and sustainable and @Mglsd_UG needs to reduce tokenism and dependency in policy affairs.

This is great.
Next time send me an invite.
I would love to attend.
Applying disability rights effectively requires engagement from *both policymakers and beneficiaries (Persons With Disabilities).
Here’s why you need to partner with #KDFest26
● Role of Policymakers ●
-Create inclusive laws: Ensure laws align with frameworks like the @UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
- Allocate resources: Budget for accessible infrastructure, assistive devices, inclusive education, and healthcare.
- Enforce implementation: Move from policy on paper to action on the ground.
- Raise awareness:* Promote disability rights across government sectors.
- Accountability: They can track if services actually reach them and report gaps.
- Advocacy: Self-advocacy groups and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) push for change.

We can only make our communities safer and more inclusive for persons with disabilities (PWDs) by meaningfully including them in development programmes and decisions that affect their lives. Inclusion must be part of development not an afterthought.
#KDFest26 @UNFPAUganda
It's essential to transform the narrative surrounding disability. Individuals with disabilities are not just recipients of compassion; they are innovators, entrepreneurs, leaders, artists, and agents of change. Society must shift away from mere sympathy and actively create equitable opportunities for everyone to participate and thrive.
#KDFest26 #LeaveNoOneBehind
We sre a safe space of inclusion. We invite the public and PWDs to come and exhibit their products, reach out to +256 700 275182 to book your tent.

Inclusion starts with employers understanding and respecting the rights of people with different impairments. Creating accessible workplaces is not charity—it is about equal opportunities, dignity, and participation for everyone. #KDFest26 @Mglsd_UG @EstherBirungi22 @LftWUG
