My buddy asked me to explain selling puts to him like he's 5…
I used his truck as an example.
"You've been eyeing a $30K truck. You'd happily buy it at $25K.
Now imagine the dealer paid YOU $500 today, just for promising to buy the truck for $25K if the price ever dropped there.
Truck never drops? You keep the $500.
Nothing owed.
Truck drops to $25K?
You buy the truck you wanted anyway, at your price, and you keep the $500."

In 2001 George W Bush proposed a partial privatization plan for Social Security so you could put 10% of your SS contribution into the markets.
People rejected this.
We can now see that if it had passed, the 10% that went into the markets would have outperformed the 90% the government managed, the program would be solvent, and the average SS recipient would be receiving 2X what they currently receive.
The worst bet you’ll ever make is betting on government.

ALERT: Wendy’s employee who fled to America after surviving a shooting in his home gets a full scholarship to Yale with the help of his bosses who “changed my life.”
Thalles Winner DeSouza, who grew up in the crime-ridden Rio de Janeiro, said, “In 2016, after being almost killed by a shooting inside my own home while I was sleeping, my mother decided to leave everything behind and come to the United States.”
DeSouza became a manager at a Wendy’s in Cape Cod and told his bosses he wanted to leave to work in construction for better pay.
Usama El-Sehrawey, one of the owners of the Wendy’s, told DeSouza, “If you stay at Wendy’s, I will make sure you go to college.”
El-Sehrawey and the other owner, the late Ernest Smiley, started setting aside money for every hour DeSouza worked and eventually gathered enough funds for 3 years at Cape Cod Community College.
DeSouza got straight A’s and was even the student body president for 2 years before transferring to Bunker Hill Community College.
DeSouza was then accepted into Yale, which has a 2% acceptance rate, on a full scholarship.

I drove from Mississippi to Wyoming for a conference. I went through Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado on the way there. I went through Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and then the east side of Arkansas on the way back. Several things occurred to me.
