Agriculture is the backbone of the Central Valley’s economy, and it’s important that our farmers have a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect their operations. That’s why I really appreciated the opportunity to bring together producers from across the Valley for a roundtable with FSA Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs Jared Hagert, California State FSA Executive Director Connie Conway, and USDA California State Director for Rural Development Bryan Anguiano.
We had a great discussion about agriculture challenges, disaster preparedness heading into next year, and how we can better address the needs of local farmers.
As the sole dairyman in Congress, I understand the uncertainty producers face, and I’ll continue working with our agricultural community and federal partners to ensure our farmers have the support they need to keep producing the food that feeds our nation.

On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we remember the thousands of lives taken too soon and honor the heroic first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice. That horrific day exposed our nation to unimaginable evil, but it also showed the strength and resolve of the American spirit. We will never forget the lives that were lost and those who died trying to save them. 🇺🇸

This week, I met with leaders from Self-Help Enterprises at their Palm Terrace affordable housing community in Lindsay. We discussed the challenges facing rural housing programs and the need to expand access to affordable housing across the Central Valley.
I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand the impactful work they're doing and I look forward to continuing our conversations about how federal housing resources can help meet the region's growing needs.

Latter-day Saints are among the most patriotic, service-oriented individuals in our country. They are also unequivocally Christian—just look at who is in the name of the Church.
It is unacceptable for a government entity to characterize a faith in a manner that contradicts the religion’s own foundational tenets. I am working now to ensure a correction is made.
The Office of the Secretary of War is announcing a significant change to the Department’s categorization of religious affiliation. In a long overdue move, we reduced the list from over 200 unmanageable categories to 31. With this move, we are returning to the original intent of collecting this data - to allow our chaplains and religious support personnel to provide the best spiritual care to our warfighters.
This decrease in religious affiliation codes is not designed to make any claims on the legitimacy of any faith or religious belief, nor is it intended to provide a list of “officially approved” religions. Rather, it is designed to allow chaplains to quickly look at the religious composition of their units and determine how they structure resources to best provide for warfighters of all faith groups.
The Department of War places a high value on the First Amendment and the free exercise of religion. Chaplains play an instrumental role in providing spiritual care and facilitating the Warfighters' ability to freely exercise their religion of choice, or no religion at all. With this new change, we believe we can provide the best data to support our chaplains in that effort.

Welcoming a child into your family is one of the most meaningful moments in life, and as a dad, I understand both the joy and responsibility that comes with it. At a time when so many young families are facing higher financial burdens, we should be making it easier—not harder—to raise children and build a future.
That's why I was proud to introduce the Supporting Newborn Parents Act, which puts money back into the pockets of hardworking families so parents can focus on raising their newborn instead of worrying about making ends meet.

Nearly 2000 years ago, Palm Sunday marked the beginning of the last week of the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ. Scriptures tell us that the week began with throngs standing at the gates of the city to see “Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee” (Matthew 21:11).
Though we do not stand at the gates of Jerusalem today with palms in our hands, the time will come when “all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, [will stand] before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands” (Revelation 7:9). #GreaterLove
