Agriculture is the backbone of the Central Valley’s economy, and it’s important that our farmers have a seat at the table when decisions are made that affect their operations. That’s why I really appreciated the opportunity to bring together producers from across the Valley for a roundtable with FSA Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs Jared Hagert, California State FSA Executive Director Connie Conway, and USDA California State Director for Rural Development Bryan Anguiano. We had a great discussion about agriculture challenges, disaster preparedness heading into next year, and how we can better address the needs of local farmers. As the sole dairyman in Congress, I understand the uncertainty producers face, and I’ll continue working with our agricultural community and federal partners to ensure our farmers have the support they need to keep producing the food that feeds our nation. On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, we remember the thousands of lives taken too soon and honor the heroic first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice. That horrific day exposed our nation to unimaginable evil, but it also showed the strength and resolve of the American spirit. We will never forget the lives that were lost and those who died trying to save them. 🇺🇸

This week, I met with leaders from Self-Help Enterprises at their Palm Terrace affordable housing community in Lindsay. We discussed the challenges facing rural housing programs and the need to expand access to affordable housing across the Central Valley. I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand the impactful work they're doing and I look forward to continuing our conversations about how federal housing resources can help meet the region's growing needs.

Congratulations, Madame Leader. Every now and then you get to look back and think, “Yeah… that worked out pretty well.” Congratulations on becoming Assembly Republican Leader. Wishing you and the caucus the very best.
Today, @AsmRepublicans elected me as the Assembly Minority Leader. I am deeply honored by their trust. Together, we will fight to protect families and small businesses from the relentless affordability crisis. I want to thank Leader Emeritus @HeathFloraCA for his service and commitment to the caucus. Our leadership team is strong and diverse: @AsmTangipa as Minority Whip @Joshua_Hoover as Minority Floor Leader @NatashaforCA as Minority Caucus Chair @Patterdude as Minority Deputy Leader.

1st like to thank God for opening ❤️& minds 2nd those who took strides 🗣️🏛️ 3rd the Administration for listing & fixing this. This, to date, was one of the scariest moments in U.S. History I’ve seen, to think the whip of a pen would segregate an entire Christian Faith.
Last week, a proposed list of simplified faith codes was released to the media. The Pentagon list included redundant and unnecessary labeling, and the mistake has been fixed. The goal of this effort is to simplify a previously out-of-control “belief” coding system that had ballooned to over 200 codes. In order to clarify the work of chaplains, and simplify the work of commanders, the Pentagon has consolidated and simplified the list to roughly thirty codes — using the previously used labels for faiths. The Pentagon’s job is not to adjudicate theological debates, but instead to ensure sincerely-held faith is respected and encouraged in our ranks. Below is the updated Religious Affiliation Codes (RAC) list:

Latter-day Saints are among the most patriotic, service-oriented individuals in our country. They are also unequivocally Christian—just look at who is in the name of the Church. It is unacceptable for a government entity to characterize a faith in a manner that contradicts the religion’s own foundational tenets. I am working now to ensure a correction is made.
The Office of the Secretary of War is announcing a significant change to the Department’s categorization of religious affiliation. In a long overdue move, we reduced the list from over 200 unmanageable categories to 31. With this move, we are returning to the original intent of collecting this data - to allow our chaplains and religious support personnel to provide the best spiritual care to our warfighters. This decrease in religious affiliation codes is not designed to make any claims on the legitimacy of any faith or religious belief, nor is it intended to provide a list of “officially approved” religions. Rather, it is designed to allow chaplains to quickly look at the religious composition of their units and determine how they structure resources to best provide for warfighters of all faith groups. The Department of War places a high value on the First Amendment and the free exercise of religion. Chaplains play an instrumental role in providing spiritual care and facilitating the Warfighters' ability to freely exercise their religion of choice, or no religion at all. With this new change, we believe we can provide the best data to support our chaplains in that effort.

Phones, watches, doorbells, cars, factories and energy grids are increasingly becoming connected, all collecting and communicating information to be interpreted, analyzed and acted upon. Noting this trend, Elder Gerrit W. Gong (@GerritWGong)  of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will discuss how to safely navigate artificial intelligence in a 60-minute gospel workshop video titled “Faith, Dignity and Human Flourishing: Hearing God’s Voice in an Age of Artificial Intelligence,” available on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
