The whole world should be paying attention to what is happening in India right now. Computer programs have been used to systematically remove huge numbers of voters from the electoral rolls. But India's Gen Z has cottoned on and the tide is turning...
Bengal is a dangerous example of how democracy was turned on its head. Of the total deleted/removed voters that appealed, 91% of them were restored on the voters list. But state election was over by then and BJP grabbed power. The Supreme Court aided this power grabbing.
How will anything change in the system if your vote doesn’t matter?

I know X is a form for clever clap backs. But I want to have a real conversation on this. You see, Lincoln had to answer the same objections about the Americanness of recent immigrants. Back then, many claimed that those with French and German and Scandinavian blood were not American because their family did not fight in the Revolution. How can you be an American if no one in your family, not a great grandfather or great uncle, spilled blood fighting for this country?
Today the question is put to those of us of Indian heritage, or Mexican, or Chinese, to Hindus and Muslims, Jews and Buddhists. What did your family do in this country’s wars? What did they build? Where do you sit in the hierarchy of Americans?
Some tech barons would count your votes by your net worth, as if the only value that matters is what wealth you produce. The heritage school answers with a different ledger. Your standing as an American should be measured by how much your family has bled or sacrificed.
Lincoln answered the heritage school in some of the most beautiful words ever written in the English language. His speech for July 4, 1858 has more wisdom than everything collectively ever written on X, or for that matter, social media.
Lincoln said that if you believe in the Constitution, if you believe in the Declaration of Independence, then there is an electric chord that links your heart to the hearts of the men who fought in the Revolution for those principles, and that you are blood of the blood and flesh of the flesh of our founders. He articulated why our nation, unique in the history of the world, is constituted based on a devotion to a common set of ideals and principles.
I attach the text below. If even a few who engaged with my tweet read it, well, then our country would be a little better for it.
Dinesh the irony is that the President you worked for --Ronald Reagan --who gave an Indian immigrant with a thick accent a job in his White House knew this Lincoln passage very well.

A friend of mine works in AI and thinks bad things are about to happen. He sold his home and moved his family out the country. He said if you own a home in a walkable San Francisco neighborhood near a taqueria with good veggie options, you should sell your home right now.

"Babylonile Susannaye” is one of the relatively few Christian compositions found in the Malayali Kaikottikali tradition. It tells the story of Susanna, the wife of Joakim, a wealthy and respected Jewish man who lived in the ancient city of Babylon, as recounted in Daniel 13.
Susanna’s story has long stood as a beautiful example of feminine virtue, dignity, modesty, fidelity, and courage.
What makes this composition particularly fascinating is the way a traditional Kerala folk art form is used to give expression to a distinctly Christian story. Kaikottikali is deeply woven into Kerala’s cultural heritage and is especially popular during festive occasions.
As Malayali Christians, particularly those living in the diaspora, continue to revive and preserve their linguistic and socio-cultural heritage, compositions like these may offer a beautiful way of doing so while remaining rooted in their faith.
This performance was organized and presented in New York by St. Mary’s Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, bringing together more than 90 women in a remarkably well coordinated performance.

English friends give gifts,
German friends give Gift.
One warms the heart.
The other stops it.
English sinners burn in hell,
but German hell means bright.
Leave it to the Germans
to fix the lighting down there.
English lovers lied.
German lovers sing a Lied.
Every broken promise,
one capital letter from a song.
And English hands grab everything,
grab it fast, grab it now.
But German keeps das Grab
for where all grabbing ends.

My entire argument encapsulated in what should be the worst joke in history,
I’m afraid this is the ludicrous world we never agreed to live in but now inhabit. It’s somehow what we allowed then to create for us because they said ‘Trust us, we know what’s best for you’
You couldn’t make it up but here we are, and in November, millions will once again cast a vote against their best interests.
Help me out, is there is an epidemic of stupid in America?
My thanks to Trevor Noah for his observations and the clip
