You don't need a Studio to run a local model. 16 GB is enough - a base MacBook Air or Mac Mini.
At that size, Qwen3.5-4B at 4-bit is the pick. It uses 6 GB and hits ~61 tok/s on a base M4 Mini, leaveing 10 GB for everything else.
$ rapid-mlx recipe
The command reads your Mac and picks two models: the smartest one that fits, and the fastest one. You never have to work out which quant loads.

Have you ever wondered how LLMs actually work?
Well, there's both basic theory & modern techniques like RLHF (reinforcement learning from human feedback).
Here, you'll learn how to train a tiny model, scaling up, RLHF, & more.

John Napier, the eighth Laird of Merchistoun (now part of Edinburgh), is known for inventing logarithms in 1614.
He was also interested in alchemy and magic, and many people believed he had special powers.
He had a simple trick to catch servants who were stealing. He would put a black cockerel in a dark room and ask each suspect to go inside and touch it. He told them the bird would reveal the guilty person.
Before this, Napier covered the bird with a thin layer of soot. An innocent person would follow the instructions and touch the bird, getting soot on their hands. A guilty person, afraid of being caught, would avoid touching it. When they came out, clean hands showed who was guilty.

The ledger used to be the slowest part of finance. That is changing fast.
Ten platforms now embed AI directly into the accounting system. Not a bolt-on tool. Inside the place your transactions already live.
Here is what they are actually doing.
→ NetSuite . Agents across the platform that streamline tasks, recommend actions, and surface insights from one unified data source.
→ SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Joule and Business AI running close tasks, revenue recognition, intelligent invoicing, and continuous risk detection in the GL.
→ Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance. Copilot matching transactions, capturing invoices, chasing collections, and predicting customer payments.
→ SAGE Intacct Software . Anomaly detection reviewing over 15 million transactions weekly and correcting errors before they post.
→ Workday Financial Management. Illuminate flagging GL anomalies and automating journal entry approvals.
→ Campfire . An AI-native core system handling the general ledger, revenue recognition, accruals, and the close.
→ Rillet . Connected straight to banks and billing, automating revenue recognition and transaction matching.
→ Acumatica Cloud ERP. Real-time extraction, anomaly detection, exception handling, and private LLMs behind it.
→ Maxima AI. Layers over your ERP to automate record-to-report, from data extraction and workpapers through journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals, with accountant approval and an immutable audit trail.
→ DualEntry . OCR, pre-posting categorization, reconciliation across 13,000+ live bank connections, and flux analysis.
Notice the pattern.
The work is moving before the error, not after it. Anomalies get caught pre-posting.
Invoices get read on arrival. The close stops being a monthly excavation.
Which means the accountant's job shifts too. Less matching and chasing. More
judgment, review, and explaining the number to the business.
You do not need all ten. You need the one that fits the system you already run on.
