It's a good time to listen to our episode from last month about how one of the world's first betting markets was betting on Papal selection, and how it became so widespread that the Catholic church had to do a massive crackdown on the practice

If you want to know more about how Google Flights works, airline tickets, and why it is super complicated to deal with all the constraints and the combinatorial combinations, I highly recommend this set of slides by Carl de Marcken, one of the co-founders of ITA software, which Google acquired and became one of the underpinnings of Google Flights.

The politics of America’s housing issues in one chart:
• People and politicians in blue states say they care deeply about the housing crisis and homelessness but keep blocking housing so both get worse
• Red states simply permit loads of new homes and have no housing crisis

Sunday trading laws are bad for…
1. Busy families who get no time in the week
2. The economy
3. The four people who believe Sunday is sacred and nothing should be open at all.
Can **ANYBODY** defend Sunday trading laws in their current form?

As I always say, it’s just incredible how high rents are purely a policy choice and we could just absolutely crush rents by allowing more building. Every few months a new city in the world discovers this magic and gets double digit rent falls.

The political economy of housing is so screwed.
1) If a politician promised to raise the price of bread, no one would vote for him; but people will if he promises to "keep up home values."
2) Voters who want lower housing prices don't understand how to bring them about AT ALL.

I don’t understand why everyone’s saying that this rate is low; the cash comp is basically a rounding error compared to the value of giving you physical access to a casino’s core IT infrastructure.
