Hey, let's talk about a bipartisan issue: SUPPORTING THE TROOPS. 🇺🇸 My oldest son proudly served in the Navy. My Dad, God rest his soul, served in the Marines. My Uncle served in the US Army. Many of you have relatives, friends, people you care about, who have served in one of America's armed forces. Some of you don't have ANYONE who served in the military, but don't need that in order to respect the sacrifice, be grateful for the service. In fact, we often see people rightly expressing their admiration, gratitude, and respect for Veterans and active members of our armed forces. WHY, then, is one of the major political parties of the United States in the process of nominating someone who has consistently denigrated, insulted, and even threatened veterans and active members of the military? Let's begin with TODAY: I'm no fan of Nikki Haley, but her husband is deployed overseas. You'll never hear me using his absence from her campaign to attack her. But that's precisely what trump did today. trump, who actually NEVER served because his dad got a doctor to say he had bone spurs, has made disrespecting Veterans a major staple of his persona. The closest he came to Vietnam was tellong Howard Stern that avoiding sexually transmitted diseases in the 90s was his "personal Vietnam." Meanwhile, he said the late Senator John McCain, who was captured and held prisoner in Vietnam for 5 years, wasn't a hero because he was captured. That should have been the END of his political career. But it wasn't. He then went on to insult the Gold Star family of Khizr Khan. And the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson. And he's even called fallen soldiers "suckers" and "losers." When a severely wounded Army vet sang "God Bless America" at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in 2019, trump asked General Mark Milley “Why do you bring people like that here? No one wants to see that, the wounded.” trump admonished Milley, and told him to never let the wounded vet appear in public again. General Milley himself is now under special protection, after trump suggested on his Truth Social platform that Milley should be put to death. These are well-documented hateful comments by someone who aspires to be the Commander in Chief, the person giving orders to our military. Why should anyone in the military be expected to respect him? He's shown more respect to our adversaries -- to Putin, to Kim Jong Un -- than to our own military. Why should anyone NOT in the military respect him? These brave soldiers, they put their lives on the line defending our democracy, and that cowardly, bunker-hiding, bone spur motherfucker wants to denigrate and threaten him? I prefer Presidents who DON'T disrespect our military.
