My conspiracy theory is that AI is going to be the death of most conspiracy theories. Listen to our search for truth combining government information and nonpartisan reporting at @StateAffairsUS with @suffiyanmalikk
My first We The Builders conversation with @evanburns, CEO of @StateAffairsUS. I think Evan is building one of the most interesting companies at the intersection of politics and capitalism, with the ambitious goal of creating the category of “policy markets” which he says is more important than financial markets. In this conversation we discuss the state of media, the thesis and business of State Affairs and more.
Available wherever you get your podcasts.
@rabois was one of the first believers in the idea and they just came out of stealth with a $70m seed round funded by @khoslaventures and @foundersfund.
To understand how Evan got here, perhaps sharing some of his background is important. He started a media company called Odyssey which he ran for eight years before eventually exiting and went on to start a beverage company called The Long Drink that was wildly successful in a short period of time doing millions in sales. Through that he learnt how important it was for companies to understand policy in real time and have relationships with policymakers.
One of the best things about doing the show is meeting people that lay low and are underrated in the mainstream discourse. I think Evan is one of those people who is going to build a generational company and will be household name in the next five years or so.

From Erik @Schelzig and @JonathanMattise: Marsha Blackburn transferred $4.8 million from her federal campaign to the Club for Growth’s state PAC, which has spent $2.4 million to support her state campaign for governor.

Today we're announcing $70M to build the intelligence infrastructure for the policy and regulatory economy and our story is featured in @nypost.
State Affairs is the AI platform for policy and regulation, already trusted by one-third of the nation's elected officials and by government affairs and legal teams across the Fortune 1000.
Policy gets made in statehouses long before it reaches Washington. Thousands of bills, hearings, and regulations moving across 50 states at once. Our edge is exclusive journalism and original data gathering. We have one of the largest statehouse newsrooms in the country, 2,000+ original stories a month, and on the ground data gathers that both power our AI with signals no one else has.

Job news — starting Monday, I’ll be joining the illustrious crew at @StateAffairsTN. I’m excited to team back up with @schelzig and join @julia_r_baker and @AndySher1 to cover Tennessee politics and government with the TJ. Say hey at my new email, [email protected].
Here's a curiosity from the new congressional maps. A seemingly unpopulated Sumner County island across from Nashville stays in the 6th District, while much of the rest of the county goes into the 7th. What gives?
In what will presumably be among his final acts as Senate speaker, Randy McNally instructs members to "mill about smartly" while awaiting bills from the House. A #TNLeg classic.

Rep. Aftyn Behn captures the mood of the General Assembly right about now: "We all want to get out of here and drink."
We've reached the point in the session when the cheers of defiance for the naming of conference committees has transitioned to quiet groans.
In a rarity, Speaker @CSexton25 turned off Knoxville Republican Rep. Jason Zachary’s mic after things got heated on the House floor.
Just now on the House floor: "Shame on you! Shame on all of you!" I think that's close enough.
