the amount of kids shocked when my student (fellow ADHD haver) and i commiserated about taking weeks to answer text messages tells me that yes, neurotypicality is def still the norm 😂

pointing at schools that need to be closed is a premature question and no i don't think any school should have 30 kids
i do think we should have a principle of what the smallest high school we have should be, but we should also have an idea of what the biggest one should be

if school board candidates are willing to talk about facilities overhaul, and they are, because they are talking about adding grocery stores to schools
why wouldn't they be willing to look internally at student assignment policies and if we keep the building from 1898 open
sure! go ahead and borrow it from the CPD budget. that sounds reasonable, actually
Johnson proposing the city borrow an eye-catching $480 million to pay for police-related lawsuit settlements, sources say, a plan which will likely by closely scrutinized by alders:
let's talk about INFLUENCING and critical thinking. has your child ever met an actor and thought they actually *were* the role? yeah, this is what chi political influencers are doing.

i have heard from multiple sources that he doesn't have enough petitions. CTU needed the diminishing people-power and our rapidly evaporating dues to push hilario onto us, as he occupies a more important role to union leadership.
oh well! matt brewer seems like he's better 🤷🏻♀️
Brandon Johnson’s electoral coalition is officially dead with this endorsement. His campaign is nearly broke and it is rumored that his petitions are in a shambles. This raises serious viability questions. chicagotribune.com/2026/10/2…
you could be my work bestie and i would still be enraged at an interruption. not to mention our intercoms are shit and i have to SCREAM into it for them to hear me respond - because they WAIT for you to respond instead of just "send x to office for early dismissal"
i have severe ADHD and i am a teacher
i have examined all sorts of ways of either turning the intercom down or disconnecting it (the latter has some consequences). my kids know tardies drive me NUTS, not because i wish to control them, but i lose my train of thought instantly.
Kraft and Monti-Nussbaum studied outside interruptions in Providence Public Schools: intercom announcements, phone calls, staff visits, and students arriving late. They combined district-wide surveys with timed observations of 63 high school class periods.
They found that a typical classroom is interrupted more than 2,000 times a year. About half of those interruptions trigger further off-task behavior, and together they cost roughly 10 to 20 days of instruction annually. Tardy students were the most common cause, and phone calls were the most costly per instance.
Principals consistently underestimated both how often interruptions happen and how much they hurt learning. Because most interruptions come from school staff and vary widely between schools, the authors argue they are highly preventable. Their remedies include cutting unscheduled announcements, moving routine messages to email, and addressing tardiness.

music to my ears:
"you were right, reading is a great way to chill when you're feeling stressed"
and "wow I'm so invested in cacambo [in candide], he's my favorite"
who died and made "nichole" president of "the girls"
Time and place where it’s okay to have your ass out: a club
Time and place where it’s not okay to have your ass out: a fucking sporting event
I think girls should be able to dress cute to sporting events and all but it is not appropriate to ever have your ass out at any sporting event put some fucking shorts on
a candidate's own word explains a lot??? @WBEZeducation are we still doing corroboration? your reporter on the cusp of forced retirement seems to think not

if we actually want to ensure safety for young people, we would need not a Chicago agency to investigate its own
there are a lot of mechanisms that could work for this but one immediate entity would be ISBE, DCFS or a new structure that handles all claims at school districts

White sex tourists hate being reminded of the fact that their behaviour is embarrassing and low-status. This girl isnt the first daughter of these type of couples to come forward to talk abt the issues of having a passportbro-father. Theres several:

🚨 🗣️ Breaking: Ainsley Maitland-Niles on why he refused to take the knee before Everton vs Chelsea:
“Honestly, I feel like these gestures have become formalities. We take the knee before matches, cameras capture the moment, and everyone moves on. But what actually changes?
“I have experienced racism throughout my career, from my time at Arsenal to Lyon and now back at Everton. Yet I rarely see meaningful consequences for those responsible. How many more Black players must suffer before real action is taken?
“Behind every racist insult is a human being being humiliated for the colour of their skin. Imagine giving everything to football, entertaining millions, only to be reminded that some people still believe you are worth less because you are Black.
“I am tired of seeing beautiful messages against racism followed by the same ugly reality. Taking the knee means nothing if the people responsible face no consequences.
“I don’t want another photograph of players taking the knee. I want to see real punishment, real accountability and real change. Black players deserve to feel protected, respected and safe, not just for the 60 seconds before kick-off, but every single day.
