I second this request for @mbateman, or some response from Alpha School! Anecdotes were fine a year ago, but it's odd they still haven't released anything more rigorous, to my knowledge.

🎙️ “Math class needs a makeover.” Our own @ddmeyer has been pushing that idea forward for years—through teaching, blogging, and building tools like Desmos. On the latest episode of the Math Ed Podcast, Dan reflects on his career in math education and what it means to make math learning more human, visual, and engaging. 🎧 Listen here: bit.ly/3VF3Cdb #MTBoS #ITeachMath

That moment when an absent student joins our @DesmosClassroom #Polygraph from home, and he and his partner "win" in only 4 questions! 😍 Do your students join your @Desmos activities from home when they're absent? It's become a thing this year, and I'm here for it! #iteachmath

So glad to hear that @ddmeyer picked up on this story as well. Highly recommend you read his post for more context!
Unbound Academy, an AZ charter school claims to have replaced teachers with AI with students learning 2x more than usual. I read their application in AZ, but ALSO in UT, AR, NC, SC, and PA. It's wild. Sending out my report tomorrow. Subscribe here. 👇 danmeyer.substack.com

I have thoroughly enjoyed subscribing to @ddmeyer’s updates about teaching, technology, and math. The information he uncovers and shares is so interesting. Things aren’t always as they seem 🧐

Omg a first grader just told me he’s making a “picture machine.” What is that? “It’s a machine where all it does is take pictures.” The word ‘camera’ may be on its last legs. 📸

Adding on, there are consequences to labeling an idea/concept as basic. 1) The labeler becomes limited in their understanding of the idea/concept. 2) The one learning the idea becomes belittled and feels stigmatized for not knowing what the labeler knows.
I don't trust your ideas about teaching if they depend on knowledge being "basic" or not. 👉 "Students need to know the basics and THEN we'll let them do interesting stuff." All knowledge seems basic after you know it. All the stuff should be interesting.

My FIRST big @Desmos Art Project started on this day 2 years ago. 1000+ hand-crafted equations, 5000+ manually placed points, and 3 months of work. I’m so proud on how far I’ve come since then! Thank you to everyone who’s been there for me along the way! desmos.com/calculator/awmuf0…

I do we do you do is the default structure. It seems good at generating the kind of boilerplate that teachers need to produce for compliance. If your principal or grad school requires verbose lesson plans, that you intend to basically ignore, this appears useful

New episode alert! I had an amazing conversation with @ddmeyer about the importance of humans in post-COVID tutoring. AI may seem great, but nothing beats the consistency and care of trained tutors. Tune in now! 👇 🎧 myedtech.life/danmeyer/ #MyEdTechLife #AIinEducation #HumanElement #Podcast

New My EdTech Life episode drops later this week with @ddmeyer! We dive into how teaching is a people-shaped problem, not one easily solved by LLMs or AI tools alone. Too many edtech companies remain incurious about the real admin burdens teachers face. Let’s think beyond tech to truly support educators! Special shoutout to @GoosechaseEDU for sponsoring this show. #Teachers #AIinEdTech #PeopleFirst #PodcastAlert
