If you are still around #ECCV2026 this afternoon (Sat), come stop by our poster #374 at 3pm. Learn how we spatialize objects in industry grade metric 3D from egocentric glasses (and other devices)! 🥊 facebookresearch.github.io/b…

How can scaling 3D methods keep up with 2D when the gap between ground truth quantity is increasing over time? Learn how we handle this in Boxer 🥊 at my two lightning talks at the Meta booth at #ECCV TODAY at 11:30am, tomorrow at 2pm and at the poster Saturday afternoon

It is 2026, we’ve basically solved AGI and conference wifi is still slower than dial up internet

Tired of 1B+ parameter VLMs that require massive GPUs and take 1s+ to process an image? Do you miss live demos? Come to the CVPR Meta booth Friday + Saturday 10am-12pm, I'll be giving a new live demo running on a LAPTOP of our egocentric 3DBB demo of our latest work, Boxer

FoundationStereo works impressively well on calibrated stereo rigs such as Project Aria: xitter.cf/the_shweenz/status/206… We use it to power the Boxer live demo.
If you've ever wanted more metric 3d data, buckle up. Presenting depth-from-stereo with Aria Gen 2—dense metric depth for every pixel on every frame. Egocentric data collection is already scalable. Now collecting metric 3D depth is as well. github.com/facebookresearch/… Details 👇

The biggest impact of the Segment Anything line of work was not the actual image segmentation, but rather the flood of paper titles with the name “Any” in them. Cmon folks, let’s just call this generalization and move on!!

New blog post about Boxer is live on the Project Aria website
How do you decompose a 2D image into accurate 3D object detections? You use🥊Boxer. A new model from Reality Labs Research enables robust 3D object detection by "lifting" 2D proposals from off-the-shelf detectors like OWL-ViT and SAM into metric 3D space. No more "flat" AI—this is about spatial intelligence for the next generation of wearables. Blog🔗 projectaria.com/news/introdu… Website with links to download: facebookresearch.github.io/b… 👉@ddetone

Cool showcase from @_satyam_ai running Boxer on RGB video using COLMAP for poses + pointcloud and GeoCalib for gravity estimation
Replying to @ddetone
I implemented it and the ~8 degree gravity correction from GeoCalib made a real difference. Look at the monitor - on the left (pose heuristic) the box is tilted and doesn't match the screen edges, on the right (GeoCalib) it wraps the monitor much more tightly. The shelf boxes at the top are also cleaner, less overshoot. Yeah, the improvement is clear.

Today we release Boxer, a new lightweight approach that lifts open-world 2D bounding boxes to *metric* 3D: facebookresearch.github.io/b… Here we show Boxer in action on an egocentric sequence captured from smart glasses:

BoxerNet runs FAST 🔥🔥, taking roughly 20ms on a 4090 with bfloat16 for ALL prompts in an image (e.g. 30 boxes in parallel)

Check out our recent work ShapeR, a generative model which gets high quality object 3D meshes from Aria glasses
Introducing ShapeR, a method for robust conditional 3D shape generation from casually captured sequences. ShapeR leverages a rectified flow transformer conditioned on per-object multimodal data to turn casual image sequences into full metric scene reconstructions. For those interested in 3D perception, check out the Sonata pre-trained backbone. I don’t think I’ll ever co-author another paper that triples performance (22% -> 72%) on a commonly used benchmark (linear probe scannet 3D sem seg). Released with a permissive license too
📢Sonata: Self-Supervised Learning of Reliable Point Representations📢 Meet Sonata, our"3D-DINO" pre-trained with Point Transformer V3, accepted at #CVPR2025! 🌍: xywu.me/sonata 📦: github.com/facebookresearch/… 🚀: github.com/Pointcept/Pointce… 🔹Semantic-aware and spatial reasoning representations learned with no label; 🔹3x linear probing accuracy (from 21.8% to 72.5%) on ScanNet; 🔹2x data efficiency performance with only 1% of the data compared to previous approaches; 🔹As always, establish new SOTA results across indoor and outdoor 3D perception tasks.
