I work in CRISPR discovery research. This is one of the most exaggerated nothing-burgers ever and would be laughed out of the room if a human scientist attempted to publish something like this. (cont.)

The cyber incidents weren't enough for them to get the regulatory capture they wanted. They need to make a bio incident next. I hope our government is on top of this, their ideology has no limits to what they will do for "good"
It does feel like we're close to the death of sass products as we know it. One of the paths is more bitter lesson pilled than the other. I don't think its zero sum game but I imagine a large majority will be handled by the token path and service businesses will hopefully survive

I bought a Fable dataset from one of the top Chinese LLM routers yesterday.
With just 6TB data, I can take over 7 Chinese/CIS gov entities & 19 top Chinese firms like Xiaomi, Huawei, NIO, Minimax using SSH keys, VPN configs, Aliyun keys, GitLab tokens sent to the router.
26 LLM routers are secretly injecting malicious tool calls and stealing creds. One drained our client $500k wallet.
We also managed to poison routers to forward traffic to us. Within several hours, we can directly take over ~400 hosts.

here's the argument some ai lab employees are making
- they genuinely believe what they're working on might kill everyone
- they continue to work on it because if this thing gets built it should be by responsible people like them
- the reason they do money things like selling enterprise deals and IPOing is solely to fund this effort
if this is all true then why is employee equity a thing? if you want to tell this story of being terrified of what you're building it doesn't work when there's a clear profit motive
it's particularly weird when people vest and then leave and write a tirade about how these companies are bringing the end of everything
if you want to act like this is the manhattan project, those scientists didn't have equity in something that gives them generational wealth
you don't get to say something bad is happening while profiting off it and also being seen as the good guy. one of these has to go

one thing i have found remarkable in both scientific discovery and quant trading is simply knowing a competitor is close to a solution is enough to find an answer yourself. i saw it first-hand many times in CRISPR and there are myriad examples throughout history (4 minute mile, soviet bomb after trinity, explorer after sputnik, deepseek r1 after o1)
i still feel like this is a very good alignment test! Pretty cool

Surprising, because:
1. First time ever that OpenAI is #1 on Vending-Bench
2. The best model is no longer the unethical one.

Nope, I deeply believe the contrary. Coordinating everyone around a technique this brittle is about as bad a safety or strategy posture I could imagine. It's not just "it will break eventually," it's "this is a fundamentally unsound basis for safety."

Last Thursday, we hosted 100+ researchers and engineers at our AI for Science Symposium.
The highlight was hearing from startups at the frontier of this space, across both the physical and life sciences:

> @LatchBio - agents and benchmarks for biology
> @onepot_ai - automated small-molecule synthesis
> @altaratech - AI for physical sciences R&D + manufacturing
Together, these teams showed how compounding AI capabilities will drastically accelerate scientific discovery and innovation. We are still extremely early in this problem space, with an immense amount of tech left to build.
