LOL.
It’s crazy how many intelligent, driven dudes x-posted and podcasted their way to generational wealth on the ground floor of bitcoin treasury companies, while @Pledditor and the mid-curve cry-baby brigade clutched their 0.00001 BTC in cold storage while playing video games in their moms’ basements. Lesson in there. Positivity and building are rewarded. Griping like a jealous little bitch is not. You can just do things fam.

The people who did “use cases” and supported them, even to the extent of VC funding that junk, will slink back to the sewer they came from, believing everyone will just forget and move on. The damage they’ve done however will be carried forever by actual bitcoiners, (barring something something something) just as you were warned would be the case. Very evil and stupid people contributed to the Ordinals and Runes fads, and are 100% deserving of the hate that is due to them. Ordinals people are very bad, evil and unethical people. Shame on you. The stain and stench of what you’ve done will never leave you.

The problem with the monolith is it forces all-or-nothing civil wars. We lost the ability to discuss costs and benefits, pros and cons. It's pure tribalism. You're either with Core or you're with Knots. If you attempt nuance, both sides assume you're with the other.

Goodness I can related to that "not finished a thought" bit.
The father of seven has not finished a thought in four years. he is just moving. feeding. driving. wiping. his brain is soup and his back is finished and he has no opinions about civilization he is too tired for opinions. and meanwhile civilization is growing out of him like he is dirt and he doesnt even notice because there is milk on the floor again. the childfree man has read eleven books this year about the decline of the west and he is the decline and the books are the evidence and he will understand this at fifty eight in a room that is very clean and very quiet

"I realized I was sitting at a bullshit, low stakes table, and there's a bigger game to be played." There is no greater and more meaningful experience to be had as a human being than raising kids.
Not having kids is a life hack. I spend my summers in Europe, take cross-country road trips, and disappear off-grid on weekends. The money I’d spend on kids goes to investing, experiences, and freedom. Different priorities. Different definition of rich.

Some harsh truths for those who choose not to have kids: 1. Taking that one extra 5 day vacation more than me each year doesn't come close to the joy of coaching your kid in sports, seeing them open xmas presents, their 'i love yous' each day 2. A dog is not a 'kid' nor is anything like having a kid. Real facts... your dog takes a backseat when the kid comes 3. The "Fun aunt/uncle" doesn't exist. The kids aren't thinking about you 99% of the time, unless you're at my house 4. "I"ll enjoy having more money" --- the wealthiest people you know all have kids. I literally 10x'd my income SINCE kids 5. We've all lived w/o kids i.e. single, childless. We know what it's like. It's not a 'secret society' you're in. We know what that life entails i.e. a lot of TV 6. You can't think of your life now and go "well, a kid in it is a disaster." A kid makes your life better, it drives you. That Pursuit of Happyness w/ Will Smith is exactly that. 7. I never see the childless people in our n'hood. All the n'hood parties, playing out in the yard w/ the kids, spontaneous discussions w/ neighbors... the childless are locked in their houses. 8. Your relationship w/ your spouse does get harder with kids. That's real life. But, when done right, it enriches your relationship. Your favorite moments will be laying in bed w/ your spouse for hours laughing about all the funny things your kids said 9. Making friends is wayyy easier w/ kids. Parties are more fun too. There's more spontaneity meetings too at sports, school, church etc 10. If you've ever built anything in your life you were proud of... 'building' a great child tops it

Samson nails it here. I'm low IQ but I can feel the contempt. Note: I have 5 kids and a real job. I'm not a dev, and not super technical. Obviously you don't have to convince ME (as an individual), but you DO need to convince the group of people LIKE me.
You cannot develop software for users that you despise. Developers of Bitcoin node software (Knots, Core, etc) cannot successfully build software for a user base that they hate and look down upon. Regardless of how dumb the devs think users are, they can easily sense the utter contempt. Whether it be branding their nodes as fake, telling them they don't matter, DDOSing their nodes and laughing about it (personally I'll never touch a business run by someone like that), or just generic insults ("all these LARPers"), it's all very appalling. Somehow we've ended up with node software developers that have both a god complex and a victim mentality at the same time ("people that did so much for Bitcoin being accused of corruption"). If @r0ckstardev hated BTCPay users, there's no way that BTCPay would be where it is today. If I hated AQUA users, there's no way AQUA would be where it is today. In fact, projects like SamRock come into existence because we love Bitcoiners and want them to succeed. If you want to work on Bitcoin, work on Bitcoin. Do it professionally and do it quietly. Don't make it all about yourself and don't take out your frustrations on the users. And seriously, don't get angry if they don't want to run your software and then insult them for running something else. As @adam3us said, devs are supposed to be the stewards. If you are really are such a talented developer, then how come you are completely incapable of convincing people that your changes are good? If as you think, the users are so stupid, why can't someone as smart as you are get your point across? If your motivations and ethics are being questioned, maybe think about why that is happening instead of lashing out. I repeat, you cannot develop software for users that you despise.

I don't have a strong opinion on filters either way. Still trying to learn here. With that said the over-the-top straw-manning and condescension needs to be 150% mocked. Brian your penis is small and you have no arguments other than mocking the other side.
LOLOL. "You can't stop people from arbitrarily numbering sats totally outside of the Bitcoin protocol." Mechanic: "That's nonsense, yes you can." LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I've got no skin in the mining game, but this is worth reading.
I am fulfilling a promise I made several times in the last few months to publish more detailed information on @BarefootMining's Pool Study. I am publishing the data from the first day we directed hash rate (November 22, 2023) to @ocean_mining through the end of June 30th, 2025 Eastern Time (Block #903481). The picture here is a summary of the data in various time windows. Those interested in more detail can look at each payout from each pool by day throughout the time window. A link to this data is provided below. Each Pool has had exactly (10) S19J Pro+ @ 120 TH/sec units during the entire study period. All 40 units in the study are in the same grid-connected container with the same internet connection. Uptime is virtually 100% for all units as if there was any failure, it was repaired or replaced with an identical unit almost instantly. (This container did not participate in any curtailment.) In case anyone doesn't know, I also personally serve on the Board of Directors of Ocean and I am an investor in Ocean. I want that to be completely apparent to all. I also want to note that the Ocean units received no special pricing or discounts on pool fees. I paid the same fees as anyone else. The fees on the other pools do benefit from special pricing Barefoot has negotiated with those pools. That said, the variance in pool fees is well under 1% from the highest pool fee to the lowest pool fee. I hope everyone understands that my first priority is to be honest, transparent, and help others. That is because I, and Barefoot Mining, work to do what is best for Bitcoin above all else. My next priority is to my company, Barefoot Mining and my investors. This is my way of saying that I have no motivation to skew these results in favor of Ocean or anyone else. I am publicly swearing that this study and all the results being reported have been done with complete integrity and honesty, and my only desire is to reveal that which is true. The bottomline is that Barefoot has done materially better financially by having most of our hash rate directed at Ocean for the past 20 months. If you doubt the results of the study, then I encourage you to run your own study. I realize some of you may wish for more details but I want to preemptively say that will not be able to provide any more information on our study in a public forum. bit.ly/44TLeT4
