We’re reaching new levels of ideas guy previously thought impossible
Brian Chesky says he generates roughly 30,000 ideas a year and uses AI to rescue ideas he initially thought were stupid
"It’s more the good ideas jump off the page. So, for example, I basically have a notebook, and every thought is, like, a sentence or a couple sentences. And I probably write maybe a thousand words a day. So that's probably 300,000 words a year."
"So maybe each line is a sentence, there’s, like, 10 words. So maybe that’s a hundred ideas a day. So that’s maybe 30,000 ideas a year."
"And so then what I do is say I have 30,000 thoughts a year. 99% of them are not useful, right? Just something. You write something down, anything that comes to your mind, I just keep writing it down. At the end of every day, I bold the things that jump out at me."
"And so if I wrote down, like, a hundred things, a hundred lines, I bold five to ten. And then each day I bold them."
"At the end of every month, I look, and my AI now can just read the bold ideas. I used to have to manually pull out the ideas and read them. Now the AI can pull out the bolded ideas. The AI can also read and find ideas I thought were stupid, and it can tell me really good ideas."
"It can see patterns, and then those become my short list. And then I iterate them, iterate them, iterate them."

Today I'm parting ways with Fly.io. It's been a privilege. I'm off to tilt at a big old windmill with Kurt, again.

Catch-22: You can't have all the compute w/o having all the capital and all the capital is flowing to where all the compute is
New jargon metric: compute capacity "identified"
In January 2025, we committed to generating 10GW of compute and have already identified over 8GW of that. Now, we're planning for 30GW of compute by 2030. A milestone that scales with the rapidly accelerating demand for intelligent systems.

I mean yeah but also it’s so much fun, which weirdly nobody ever mentions 🤷
Fatherhood is the end of philosophy. you can read every book ever written about meaning and purpose and discipline, but the moment a small human looks at you and believes you, everything you thought you knew burns down. because now you have to do it, not think it, not debate it, not post about it. the child watches your hands, what you do when you are tired, what you do when you are mad, what you do when nobody else is looking. that is your only sermon and you cannot fake it for one day because children are bullshit detectors made of flesh. if you are a weak man your son will know it before he can spell the word weak, and he either becomes you or becomes the opposite of you, both out of desperation.
Said the biggest number he could w/ a straight face and it’s still too low
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in internal all-hands he had been expecting $300B in AWS annual sales by 2036, but with AI now sees $600B

"Not having a coding experience is becoming an advantage."
Replit CEO Amjad Masad:
"You don't need any development experience. You need grit. You need to be a fast learner."
"If you're a good gamer, if you can jump in a game and figure it out really quickly, you're really good at this."
"Coders get lost in the details."
"Product people, people who are focused on solving a problem, on making money, they're going to be focused on marketing, they're going to be focused on user interface, they're going to be focused on all the right things."
"I think this year it's gonna flip, and I think not having a coding background is gonna be more advantageous for the entrepreneur."
