Can anyone remember the last time @BBCNews interviewed a Palestinian about their experience of the racism of Zionism? Having spent the last two weeks interviewing elderly Nakba survivors in Jordan, driven off their land in their teens because of their ethnicity and religion, I'd be happy to suggest some astonishingly articulate victims of Israeli racism who would be only too happy to tell their tragic stories of eviction, slaughter and dispossession. It is like reporting on the Civil Rights movement in the US and only interviewing outraged Whites

I don’t always agree with what Jacqui Lambie says, does or how she votes - but one thing I do know is that she didn’t deserve a serve from Pauline Hanson’s One Nation goon squad regarding a personal health issue.
Lambie’s health issue also didn’t need to become a point of public ridicule for One Nation political point scoring either.
I’m not sure at what point people think that a political party and its leader have gone too far - because let’s face it, Hanson has crossed that line too many times to count in her last 3 decades of providing nothing of actual relevance and worth to the general public. Perhaps some people think that the enabling of constant racism and the punching down on Indigenous people and immigrants has been sensationalised so much that it has allowed a desensitisation, an acceptance and a tolerance - but let me tell you - it is still NOT acceptable by any standards to hate and abuse others just because you see someone else do it.
I can guarantee that there was a collective recoil from Hanson this week after One Nation’s less-than-stellar moment regarding Lambie. Many women suffer from these same issues and it’s no laughing matter. It is a serious health issue, a hygiene issue, a mental health and physical wellbeing issue.
We know that Hanson has little respect for other women. She has demonstrated that over the years via her attacks on other women in parliament and the general public. She has been known to encourage misogynistic ideologies and often supports groups associated with far-right and nationalist figures. Hanson and her party have documented ties to the manosphere and various men’s rights groups. (abc). Disturbingly, she has also said that she wanted to sit down with some of these men’s rights groups “to give them a voice”. Personally I believe that Hanson identified a key vulnerable niche and wanted to vote harvest. Too bad she didn’t give vulnerable women who were the victims of DV the same consideration.
Hanson’s views on DV are well known, too. She has stated that “most women seeking DV orders are doing so for frivolous reasons”. She also insists that DV is gender-blind despite reams of credible research showing men are the primary perpetrators and women are the primary victims” (Daily Telegraph).
Hanson’s track record on voting is consistently poor when it comes to women:
-has consistently voted against measures for decreasing gender pay gap.
-has voted against the paid parental leave amendment.
-has opposed expanded or equalised paid parental leave frameworks for families.
-has voted against motions addressing women’s economic security and retirement incomes.
-has opposed minimum wage increases and workplace equality reforms.
-has routinely voted against increasing access to subsidised childcare services.
-has opposed moves to remove GST from sanitary and feminine hygiene products.
🤔
Personally nothing that Hanson and One Nation do for notoriety surprises me anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be disgusted by the depths that they continue to plumb.
To disrespect and ridicule Lambie’s experience is to disrespect and insult all women. It demeans and reduces women’s experiences to little more than a joke.
When women’s experiences are reduced it undermines their place in society. It continues to make it harder for every woman now and into the future.
It is hard enough for women in a largely patriarchal society. Why do some women make it harder for us?

Pelvic organ prolapse - bladder or vaginal - affects about 1 in 12 Australian women. It's often linked to physical strain, heavy lifting or past childbirth. It’s uncomfortable and debilitating.
Jacqui Lambie has shown courage and honesty in speaking of her experience of vaginal prolapse. She’s talked about an awkward subject to make it easier for other affected women.
Pauline Hanson thinks that's worth making fun of.
One Jacqui Lambie is worth 1,000 Pauline Hansons.

From across the ocean, this Australian gives a raw, unfiltered look at modern America. It’s a perspective most people are too afraid to say out loud, but it impacts all of us, no matter where we live.
This is a global wake-up call.

So why is the whole Western world sicker and heavier than it was in 1980?

He went into a North Carolina prison in 1976 and came out in 2020.
44 years. Ronnie Long was tried by an all-white jury in front of an all-white courtroom, convicted, and sentenced to two life terms.
The evidence that cleared him had been sitting in a police file the whole time.
Concord, North Carolina. He was 20, and he was accused of raping a white widow — the wife of a local textile executive.
The jury was all white. The judge ordered the jury pool assembled in a way that produced it. Long's lawyers objected and were overruled.
Here is what the state had, and did not disclose:
Forty-three fingerprints were lifted at the scene. None of them were his. The defence was not told.
A rape kit had been collected. Hair and other evidence had been gathered and sent for analysis. Reports existed. The defence was not told, and much of the material later could not be found.
The victim had initially failed to identify him, and the circumstances of the identification she eventually made were deeply questionable.
He was convicted in 1976 and spent the next four and a half decades filing. Appeal after appeal, denied. For decades, courts told him his claims were procedurally too late — which is to say, he was too slow to complain about evidence nobody had told him existed.
In August 2020 the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, sitting as a full court, vacated his conviction and described the state's conduct as an extraordinary withholding of evidence. He walked out that month, aged 64.
North Carolina's governor pardoned him. He received the state's maximum wrongful-conviction payment — which is capped at $750,000. For forty-four years.
That is about seventeen thousand dollars a year.
He had been inside longer than the lawyers who finally freed him had been alive.

Why mock a condition that many women have especially those who have had children. Many women suffer in silence because it’s a topic that is embarrassing to talk about.
Jacqui stood up for female veterans and I say good on her.
She shouldn’t be mocked because at the end of the day you’re mocking all women who live with this condition.
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation cartoon series has used Jacqui Lambie’s health battle as a running gag while skewering the Albanese government’s Digital Duty of Care bill. Full story: bit.ly/4hYlkTy

Time for another of those Israeli ‘investigations.”
Masked Israeli settlers attacked a delegation of European diplomats and public figures, as well as Palestinian olive harvesters, in the Christian village of Taybeh near Ramallah on Saturday.
The attackers also smashed a window of a Belgian consular vehicle, the reports said.
