Happy to see Hydra's spinal fusion work mentioned in @techreview! "The team cut through the spinal cords of three pigs at a point midway along their backs and then tested whether the severed nerve bodies could be fused back together using a surgical sealant. According to that paper, which appeared in the journal PLOS One, all the pigs regained the ability to stand and even walk unsteadily." Soon... @theseusbio

officially announcing the next @cryodao research project: $259,000 for "TOTAL RECALL" 🧊🧠 setting out to prove that complex mammalian memory can survive cryopreservation with legendary cryobiologist greg fahy and principal investigator regina monaco two complementary approaches will be pursued: testing whether learned responses survive cryopreservation in neural cultures and/or hippocampal slices, and whether the molecular changes associated with training are preserved together, these approaches target one of the central questions for cryopreservation: can the information underlying memory survive?

Crazy, unexpected science news today: the brain is actually 2 colocated but independent organs that develop from 2 totally separate progenitor cells in early development. Big implications for some research areas (eg ALS) & for creating ethical brainless clones for transplant.

Medicine has mostly treated a lost body part as gone for good. That is quietly changing. Some tissue is now being regrown in living people. Ranked by how far along, humans first: 1. Cornea. A therapy called Holoclar uses a patient's own eye stem cells, grows them in a dish, and rebuilds a cornea damaged by a chemical burn. About 77% of eyes recovered, and the results held for ten years. Already approved. 2. Hearing. A gene therapy from Regeneron delivers a working copy of a broken hearing gene into the inner ear. In its trial, 11 of 12 children born deaf gained hearing, and three reached near-normal levels. 3. Teeth. A Japanese antibody wakes dormant buds for a third set of teeth. It cleared its first human safety trial, and a study in children born missing teeth comes next. 4. Sight. Stem-cell and gene therapies are restoring vision in macular disease, with roughly ten letters gained on an eye chart. Still early trials. 5. Heart muscle. The first patches of lab-grown heart cells are being tested in people in Japan, with modest benefit so far. 6. Limbs and whole organs. Still regrown only in salamanders and mice. Caveats: The universal wins, teeth and hearing, are early or fix a single broken gene. Regrowing a whole limb or a failed heart is still an animal story. For most of medicine, lost has meant gone. For a cornea, an ear, and soon maybe a tooth, that is no longer true.

we are investing $250,000 into bodyoid research via hydra (@daohydra) bodyoids, or integrated organ networks, can unlock perfectly matched organs and tissues on demand and alleviate suffering on a global scale they are a key component in radically extending the human lifespan along with our breakthrough spinal fusion research, we are filling in the gaps for whole-body replacement one by one details to follow

What you really want is a Bodyoid, you just don't realize it yet
I just cloned myself...as a newborn With this clone, I can: + become my own blood boy + test therapies on the clone + grow organs for transplantation + develop new treatments + inject young cells This baby-bryan lives in a petri dish for now. This may be scary to some people…a dystopian future. But, for others, they will see it as the inevitable future of health. Clinical trials are already using this technology to restore dopamine neurons for Parkinson's, heart health and eyesight. The process > blood draw > my cells were extracted > yamanaka factors applied > reset epigenetic age > restoring them to an embryonic-like state Why? > these cells are now pluripotent > can be differentiated into hundreds of cell types > i.e. neurons, cardiomyocytes, retinal cells, etc > allowing me to rebuild my body > organ by organ > repairing lost eyesight or hearing > restoring kidney, liver or lung function > repairing skin damage > there’s no real limitation in imagining > my body will accept them bc they’re my cells > foreign cells are at risk of being rejected As cells age, they accumulate epigenetic errors compounding into dysfunction and disease. This technology gives us a path to reverse aging. I mentioned getting diagnosed with an incurable disease is one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time. It’s opened up a frontier of new paths to repair and strengthen the body. This is the first example.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Johnson did not create a human clone. What he describes—applying Yamanaka factors to reset a cell's epigenetic age—produces induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), not a copy of a person. Human cloning is not currently possible. wltreport.com/2026/07/21/bry… foxnews.com/video/64018250…

the ultimate solution is through technology we engineer what has been called a bodyoid: brainless animal bodies that provide as much meat as we desire without harming any sentient beings this would transform medicine - the same platform would allow us to grow organs on demand, eliminate transplant waiting lists, and produce perfectly matched tissues for each patient experimental therapies could be tested on full biological systems without involving conscious animals, regenerative medicine would accelerate as entire replacement tissues become manufacturable in the same way that agriculture turned food from a scarce resource into an abundant one, engineered bodyoids would turn biological material into infrastructure - meat without slaughter, organs without donors, and medical research without sentient suffering

You can make organs more resistant to various stresses ex vivo. In the future, we'll have replacement part banks with thousands of organs, and for those who can afford it, their own grown younger organs (no rejection risk). We built @cryodao and @daohydra to address the key bottlenecks on this path: accelerate cryopreservation and replacement technologies. And soon, we'll be able to engineer humans for cryosleep, enabling deep space missions.

We need replacement parts. On demand. Perfectly matched. Hydra.
organ replacement vibes are growing. of course one does not need to take a young person's organs. there's already alternatives (like gene-edited pig organs) and even more ethical/compatible ones in the future (bodyoids)
