I am the director of #NOVA. This week, a post viewed over 10 million times branded our documentary an "Israeli propaganda film". Here is the truth behind the film—and the disturbing denial unfolding right beneath it.
Three years.
The day after October 7th, I already found myself in the civilian operations center for the missing—set up by citizens who realized state institutions were simply not functioning. The two weeks I spent there will stay in my heart and soul forever. We sat around crowded tables, downloading photos and videos posted across social media, trying to piece together who was alive, who was murdered, and who was taken hostage. I watched hundreds, maybe thousands of clips of people from the festival. As a longtime raver myself, I knew that if I hadn’t been a father to a four-year-old, there was a very good chance I would have been in the thick of that dance floor. By my second day volunteering, as a filmmaker, I knew: the moment my work here was done, I had no choice but to make a documentary about the massacre, so the entire world could see.
That is how #NOVA was born.
When the operations center closed, carrying a wounded, aching soul, I sat down at my computer and typed the hashtag #NOVA everywhere: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram channels where partygoers and terrorists alike had uploaded real-time footage. I downloaded everything I could find. After a week of working around the clock, I already had a hard drive with eight hours of raw footage. Later, once we tracked down who had filmed what, we requested the original master files. Added to those was GoPro footage from Hamas terrorists that had leaked online.
Already in October 2023, while collecting the material, social media began filling with claims that the massacre never happened. That it was an Israeli lie. An excuse for war. That the IDF shot the crowd. That is why it was clear to me: the film must have no voiceover, no interviews, and no commentary. Any addition would open the door to accusations of crafting a one-sided narrative or using manipulation. I created a chronological timeline of two sides documenting the festival and the massacre: on one side, young people gathered to celebrate life, music, and freedom; on the other, killers proudly recording their own atrocities. Young people of the exact same age—one side driven by love and a hunger for life, the other fueled by hate and celebrating death.
I insisted on blurring the graphic images of violence, out of deep respect for the victims and a refusal to traumatize the viewers as we ourselves had been scarred by working through the raw footage.
And this week, that post went viral calling it "propaganda".
Propaganda.
The terrorists' own bodycam footage. The voices of young people dancing until 6:29 AM. That is what they call propaganda.
And then come the comments (some shown in the attached screenshots):
"It’s AI."
"The IDF shot the crowd."
"The Jews control Hollywood".
"It was all staged."
Anyone who wants to grasp the depth of this decay can look at the attached screenshots and the responses to the post below. Witness how easily murder is brushed off as "staged," raw evidence is dismissed as digital fabrications, and victims are blamed for their own slaughter—and then go wash that venom off.
This is not a film review, and it is not a debate over facts. It is raw, classic antisemitism operating on modern platforms: Jews lie, Jews fake, Jews are to blame for their own demise. The 1930s not as a metaphor, but as direct continuity. Back then they denied; today they claim it’s AI.
Anyone labeling Hamas bodycams as "Israeli propaganda" isn't debating facts. They are erasing the dead.
This film does not ask for pity. It demands only one thing: look at what both sides filmed.
Those who refuse to look at the evidence and choose the lie have already chosen their side.
Never forgotten. Never forgiven. Never erased.

Whether you visited the Nova exhibit – which educates about how Hamas massacred nearly 400 people on 10/7 at a music festival in Southern Israel - or know nothing of the horrors that took place on that day, #NOVA on Amazon Prime is a must see.
This film is jarring, but authentic, and puts the bravery and heroism of so many from that horrific day on full display. jpost.com/israel-news/cultur…

Having listened to the arguments of both sides over the last year, I'm no longer on the fence about Israel's war. Here is why:

In early December, Yes Studios, an Israeli film production company, dropped a new documentary titled #NOVA. This film dives into the terrifying events that unfolded during the October 7th attacks, specifically at the Supernova trance music festival. It’s currently available on YouTube in Israel but hasn’t hit the global stage just yet. What sets #NOVA apart is that it's primarily crafted from mobile phone footage, voice messages, and social media posts from festivalgoers. The documentary kicks off with a chilling phone call from a survivor to her father as she makes a hurried escape from the chaos. He urgently advises her to hang up and play dead. The film then takes us back to the vibrant moments just before the attacks: festival-goers are seen putting on their wristbands, admiring their outfits, and grooving to the DJ set. There's a girl waving a flag that reads “Universo Parallelo”—a nod to the festival's theme of parallel universes. The energy is palpable as the crowd jumps in rhythm, illuminated by flashing neon lights and dancing digital skulls. Everything shifts dramatically when a security guard tells the DJ to stop the music, declaring a red alert and urging the crowd to scatter. In the confusion, one young man, still high from the party, humorously chants, “bam bam, bam bam bam!” even as explosions rock the sky. A woman in the crowd can’t help but mutter, “You’re screwed—who throws a party in Gaza?”
#NOVA adds to the growing collection of documentaries that track the attacks by Hamas on that fateful day. It follows Bearing Witness, which showcased footage from body cameras of Hamas militants. This film got quite the audience, being screened in various political settings across the US, Canada, and Europe, plus at universities, synagogues, and museums. Another film titled Supernova: The Music Festival Massacre also aired in Israel and is up for international distribution, while a BBC co-produced documentary about the festival attack is currently in the works.
These films serve as vital memory pieces while also acting as proof of the tragic events. Just days after October 7th, the Israeli government sparked debates by claiming a rising trend of skepticism regarding the attacks, essentially aiming to draw parallels to Holocaust denial. With this narrative in mind, the government attempted to counteract skepticism by emphasizing its commitment to documenting these events. Noam Pinchas, co-director of Supernova, expressed hopes that the film would validate people’s memories of what transpired. Dan Pe’er, who directed #NOVA, pointed out the importance of the world understanding the profound tragedy documented by those who experienced it firsthand.
Conspiracy theories that downplay the violence against Israelis have also made the rounds online since October. The Washington Post noted a rising group of individuals who dismiss the fundamental aspects of the attacks, promoting misleading narratives to downplay the severity or origins of the violence. Notably, one of the more prominent conspiracy theories suggests that the October 7th incident was a “false flag” operation orchestrated by Israel or possibly the US, intended to justify military action in Gaza. This claim gained traction partly because Israeli soldiers did, unfortunately, take the lives of Israeli civilians that day—a situation that Israel announced it would investigate after the ongoing conflict in Gaza comes to an end.
Although these denialist trends are concerning, they have emerged alongside a disturbing reality: the violence from October 7th, especially claims of sexual violence, has been leveraged almost instantly to rationalize retaliatory actions on a much larger scale. Historical patterns show that accusations of rape can be weaponized to dehumanize the accused—connecting with claims from Israeli officials that position their existence as a fight for survival against what they term "human animals.” There are claims circulating that Hamas systematically employed rape as a weapon of war, despite a notable lack of evidence. Much of the information put forth remains unverified or unverifiable, particularly as many victims were buried prior to thorough forensic examinations. Additionally, credible accounts have surfaced regarding instances of Israeli soldiers committing acts of sexual violence against Palestinian women in custody, complicating the narrative even further.
Under these circumstances, the nature of evidence itself comes under serious scrutiny. The Israeli government has added to the confusion with initiatives like screening #NOVA right outside the International Court of Justice during a hearing regarding South Africa's case against Israel over alleged violations of the Genocide Convention. This move sends a clear message: the government wanted to show that the true evidence lies not within the courtroom but instead in the public eye, presenting the horror inflicted on Israelis as they face off against claims of genocide against Palestinians.
In witnessing these documentaries, audiences are drawn into a complex phenomenon that scholar Maayan Ali describes as “visual lawfare,” where military forces and state representatives use imagery to push their military agendas. If lawfare—the use of legal strategies as warfare—is a hallmark of contemporary conflict, visual lawfare showcases how visual representations can be strategically circulated to promote or undermine military actions. The greater the public is reminded of the tragedies of October 7th, the more inclined they may be to justify drastic measures in the name of defense.
Conversely, this could lead audiences to reject these images and narratives entirely, even at the expense of dismissing their own observations. Visual lawfare takes advantage of the fluid nature of evidence to serve military purposes: what Ali terms a “tug-of-war over meaning” morphs into yet another battlefield where information can be obscured. As the Israeli government decries denial while simultaneously engaging in it—weaponizing the October 7th events to justify the violence in Gaza—it inadvertently raises questions of accountability for actions taken against its own citizens. The documentaries that aim to bear witness often slip into becoming tools for justifying conflict instead of serving just as records of truth.

As horrible as this video is, I just saw something even worse last night at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill, NJ, near where I grew up. The documentary movie I witnessed, entitled “#NOVA”, is about an hour long, and mostly focuses on the horror that descended the innocent, unsuspecting individuals at the Nova Music Festival on October 7thof last year. EVERYONE needs to see this film - especially ignorant Hamas apologists - as it’s a real gut-punch to the human psyche. People were visibly and audibly moved by this film, including myself, and there can be no doubt left regarding what Israel must do to prevent another massacre like October 7th from happening again.
Anyone interested in publicly showing this film for their community, civic organization or church, Synagogue etc. should DM me separately to see what can be arranged.

Yesterday, at the invitation of the Rector of the University of Telecommunications and Posts, Prof. Dr. Miglena Temelkova, a screening of the documentary film "Nova" took place, showing the atrocities committed by the #HamasTerrorist at the "Nova" music festival on 7/10.
🎬The movie combined 212 videos shot in real time, following the massacre of the terrorists and conveying the horror experienced by all 3,500 young people present there.
🎓Following the screening, Ambassador @LeviSfari held a lecture on "Artificial intelligence - the era of synthetic reality". In it, Ambassador Sfari focused on how AI can be used to distort reality, undermine democratic values and even destabilize entire nations.
💡The purpose of the lecture was to provoke critical thinking among the students and their teachers.
