The Minister of Colleges and Universities says the audit of OSAP underway by KPMG won't be made public.
I asked him why the audit being done with taxpayer money about how other taxpayer money was spent shouldn't be shared.

The government has had months to get to the table and start dealing with the real issues facing Ontario’s schools.
Instead, bargaining is stalled over an attempt to move issues into the minister’s office that have traditionally been negotiated locally.
As #OSSTF President Martha Hradowy told CHCH News:
“The government, in my view, is wanting to move all of those items to the minister’s office — items that we have traditionally dealt with locally since 2014. It’s a concerning pattern.”
Teachers and education workers are ready to bargain. The government needs to stop creating roadblocks and get back to the table.

NEW: The Ford government’s school board takeovers resulted in a record 1,346 school board complaints to the ombudsman last year, primarily driven by concerns about government-appointed supervisors, sidelined trustees and a "lack of transparency." thetrillium.ca/insider-news/…

MEDIA RELEASE: "Support staff are essential to the student experience and to the operation of our universities. Every layoff means fewer student services and supports, greater strain on those who remain, and another blow to communities that depend on their local university as a source of good jobs and economic stability." - Martha Hradowy, President of OSSTF/FEESO
These layoffs are not the result of workers failing institutions—they are the result of years of chronic provincial underfunding, a tuition freeze without replacement funding, and growing instability in Ontario's post-secondary sector. Students, workers, and communities will all feel the impact. It's time for the Ford government to invest in sustainable, predictable funding for public universities.

#OSSTF welcomes the International Court of Justice reaffirming that the right to strike is protected under international labour conventions and freedom of association rights.
At a time when workers’ rights are increasingly challenged around the world, this decision is an important reminder that strong labour rights strengthen democracy, fairness, and working conditions for everyone ✊🏽
Unifor celebrates International Court of Justice reaffirmation of the international right to strike and urges the Government of Canada to take note of this opinion.

MEDIA RELEASE: “The government continues to talk about student achievement, but you cannot improve outcomes while cutting supports” said Martha Hradowy, President of OSSTF/FEEO. “Students succeed when they feel safe, supported, and connected at school. That requires real investment, not just rhetoric. Ontario students deserve more than spare change.”
Once again, the Ford government’s core education funding falls short of what students and schools need and does not address the growing pressures facing students and their families, teachers, and education workers across the province.
It's students who end up paying the biggest price for this government's chronic underfunding. Ontario deserves FAR better!
