Ontario just locked child-care fees at $19 a day — not $10 — until June 30, 2027. Asked if the $10 target is dead, or if fees could rise after that date, Education Minister Paul Calandra would not set a new rate.

Northern Policy Institute says most of northwestern Ontario should get cheaper, faster 2+1 highways — not full four-lane twinning. In Shuniah, Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said Queen’s Park will use both.

Ontario just posted a $13 billion deficit. Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy said that deficits “are not desirable in the long run,” but “the world has changed” — including the relationship with the United States. He said the deficits are necessary right now.

Four Pickering reactors are shutting down for a long rebuild. Asked what happens if the work runs late, Stephen Lecce said they would rely on natural gas: “We’re going to also rely on the ultimate insurance policy for the province, which is natural gas.”

Ontario Energy Minister Stephen Lecce was asked what the $26.8-billion Pickering rebuild will do to household hydro bills. He would not give a number. “The framing of this around cost and not investment is, I think, doing a disservice to Canada’s nuclear tech and fleet.”

An Ottawa mayoral candidate is in custody after alleged death threats against Premier Doug Ford and Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. A facebook account under his name posted these videos, where he shouts "allahu akbar, dead dead dead" and films what appears to be pillows with "f#%k Ford" and "kill Ford" written on them.
