A bucket list item ticked for me today: be published in a peer-reviewed journal! sciencedirect.com/science/ar… It was fantastic team to collaborate with, both designing and building the app, and then writing the paper. 😁💖🎓

I've finally finished the first part of my "stop hanging your queen" chess app. I hope it's helpful, please RT if you like it, just don't break it because I am going to sleep now. chessr.app/

I made a thing over the break. We all know we shouldn’t share secrets over @SlackHQ etc (I’ve had API tokens in my inbox from a DM before), but sharing via a password manager can be tricky with clients etc. Any feedback is welcome! privatepassage.io/

It turns out, beating AI is extremely easy... you just have to ask it to roleplay sci-fi tropes:

This is crucial. Understand these two facts: 1. Once you pick a DB, you're unlikely to leave that for another DB. So don't worry about portability of your code. Thus.... 2. Use every feature of your DB and learn to optimize queries for it. You can save days of time.

SQL is not [practically] standardized, don't use a least common denominator. I helped speed up a production query by 100x in wall clock time (and lower app memory) by switching to use recursive CTEs that are PostgreSQL-specific. Learn your SQL implementation, its pretty great.

Fellow @geoguessr nerds! I love playing in NZ, but it's mostly a lot of clicking down backroads. So I used some official @Stats_NZ data and a hacky script to make some high-quality NZ town and city maps! ✨🗺🔎 Let me show you…

Hey trekkies, when I was a boy, all I wanted to do was serve on the uss enterprise ncc1701D. Can I relive that if I watch TNG as an adult, or will it spoil my nostalgia? I never saw the early seasons, are they worth watching?

I’m halfway through reading Dune and no one said “the spice must flow” yet. What am I doing wrong? Do I just start saying it in my head when someone mentions melange?

we have replaced the features that were in your macbook and which we had removed because we could forgive us we did not expect you’d hang on to that 2015 from ebay as long as you have
