Just as it is wrong for protesters to abuse and attack journalists, journalists heckling the leaders of a protest movement is a breach of the very same professional responsibility. Our job as reporters is to listen, ask questions and report on the story — not become active participants in it. Journalists resorting to theatre and abuse during press conferences is plain wrong and unacceptable. Report on the story. Don’t become the story.

Those accusing protestors of instigating "regime change" might want to listen to what ordinary people, who have no inclination to protest, are saying about the Modi government. (Not very pleasant things.) scroll.in/article/1096407/mo…

These are the young reporters being made to do the dirty work. And tomorrow, when one of them is stopped or questioned on the street, the very people who haven’t said a SINGLE WORD against the police detaining journalists will suddenly lament the threats journalists face.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiated by the Election Commission (EC) of India last year is the only such exercise in India’s history that resulted in the shrinking of electoral rolls, our analysis has found. Historically, the eight times that an intensive revision exercise was carried out, each time it resulted in more voters being added than deleted.
