Something is changing in Britain.
Europe isn't somewhere foreign. It's our neighbourhood, our shared history, our friends and families.
We belong in Europe. Not because we're any less British, but because being British has always been part of being European.

I’m fed up with certain politicians saying we need to “respect” the result of the 2016 Brexit referendum.
A decision by a narrow majority 10yrs ago that turned out to be a disaster does not have to be respected.
If a democracy cannot change its mind it ceases to be a democracy.

The fish rots from the head. When Farage goes on TV to excuse racist attacks on Kemi Badenoch, no wonder his councillors think they can get away with what we've seen on ITV.
This is Trump's America, we can't let it become Farage's Britain.
'Do you think it's racist'
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was questioned on #BBCBreakfast after his former senior aide Raheem Kassam called Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch as a 'Nigerian scammer'

I was walking to the building where I work in Oxford when I passed three young girls speaking Farsi and I couldn’t help but run back and ask if they were from Afghanistan.
They said yes. It had been a few months since their arrival as refugees waiting in Pakistan, now studying at a local school in Oxford.
I was swelling with emotion. These girls just escaped 5 years of gender persecution under the Taliban. Erasure of their schools. And are now in Oxford, studying freely.
Thank you to the U.K government for giving them a second chance.
As a former refugee myself, we all just need one chance, as Canada gave to my mother and I.
Two sets of Afghan women, escaping two Taliban regimes, meeting in Oxford. All in the hopes of finding freedom through education.

Replying to @KayBurley @ZiaYusufUK
I work for a NHS Ambulance trust. I deal with very few illegal migrants, but I do deal a lot with legal migrants who have trained as nursing staff and DR's, and who provide brilliant care in NHS hospitals.
They do more for a person in 30mins than MP's do in a life time.

At last! Big congrats to all esp @carolecadwalla As MP I was proud to join a court case to try to force ministers to hold an inquiry into the impact of Russian interference on the Brexit vote & other recent elections - their lack of curiosity was stunning

So, belated confirmation that the Brexit vote in 2016 was compromised by Russian interference, throwing into turmoil any claim that it had serious democratic legitimacy.
Andy Burnham says UK authorities are “clear” there was Russian interference in the Brexit referendum as @CatNeilan reports in today’s @ObserverUK

President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russian fuel amidst Putin’s ongoing and brutal attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine makes no sense and is a betrayal of the legacy and leadership of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
While Ukraine fights for its survival, Putin’s war machine continues to prosecute his terrorist war on civilian populations and innocent Ukrainians are dying every day.
Now, Instead of implementing the tough sanctions Lindsey Graham fought to his last breath to enact, President Trump has announced the United States is lifting sanctions on Russian energy, fueling the Putin’s war machine.
As I saw firsthand in Ukraine last month, Putin is losing this war. Ukraine has fought the Russian military to a standstill and reinvented warfare with drones taking the fight into the heart of Russia.
America should not be throwing a lifeline to Putin’s war machine. Now is the time to stand strong against Russian aggression as we did during the first Trump administration.
Putin doesn’t want peace. Putin wants Ukraine. I have no doubt that if Putin overruns Ukraine, it will only be a matter of time until Russia’s military crosses a border that our troops will have to deal with him.
America is the Leader of the Free World. For our National Security, for the security of our Allies in Europe including Ukraine, President Trump should rescind this deal immediately and return to the strong policies of our four years in the White House; impose harsh sanctions on any nation purchasing Russian energy and work with our allies to ensure Ukraine has the military support it needs to repel and defeat this Russian invasion once and for all. A black man "I'm an Englishman"
Braverman "well...actually...no you're not"
An MP sitting in an English parliament involved in making laws to protect us all tells every black and brown person BORN here that they aren't actually English- because she set the bar at five generations and set it at white.
How is that patriotism?
Car Crash.

Andrew, forget for a moment the endless Brexit accountancy — customs forms, regulations, GDP fractions and whether one trade agreement adds 0.1% here or subtracts 0.2% there.
There is a much larger question: where does British power come from?
Churchill understood it perfectly. Britain was powerful because it stood at the junction of what he called the “three majestic circles”: the Commonwealth, the English-speaking world and United Europe.
That was not sentimental Europeanism. It was hard-headed British geopolitics.
For three centuries British strategy was based on one central principle: never allow the European continent to be organised without Britain having a decisive voice in its organisation. Marlborough understood it. Pitt understood it. Castlereagh understood it. Palmerston understood it. Churchill understood it.
The object was never to escape Europe. It was to shape Europe.
That is why Churchill could simultaneously be the supreme Atlanticist, an imperialist and the man who declared at Zurich: “Let Europe arise!”
Brexit can be argued economically until the last customs declaration is filed. But geopolitically the question is much more profound.
Sovereignty is the legal freedom to act.
Power is the ability to make others act with you.
Britain historically maximised the second, not merely the first.
The great British foreign-policy tradition was never “splendid isolation”. It was ensuring that Britain sat at every important table — Washington, the Commonwealth and Europe — and could play one circle through the others.
Leaving a table may increase your freedom from its rules.
It does not automatically increase your power over what is decided there.
Churchill’s Britain wanted both sovereignty and leverage.
That is the argument Brexit has never satisfactorily answered.

The case for rejoining the EU has never been stronger.
It’s now the only path for securing our long-term prosperity.
And we mustn’t delay. Labour must start making the case - and then use the next election to secure a mandate to rejoin.

What is important is not so much how long you live as whether you live a meaningful life. This doesn’t mean accumulating money and fame, but being of service to your fellow human beings. It means helping others if you can, but even if you can’t do that, at least not harming them.
