Excited to see @farmwave featured by @FastCompany as one of the next big things in food and agriculture. 👏 Farmwave uses AI to help farmers track grain loss in real time - running on Dell Pro Rugged tablets, the technology delivers insights directly from the field. del.ly/6017BGFGZB

Question I seriously want to ask #farmers. I was once told by a farmer, that farmers don't need/want to learn how to farm. They want to learn how to run a better business. True? As artificial intelligence continues to take center stage, and many companies seem to be lobbying for the farmers data, most of which seems to involve bringing their data into AI pipelines, silos, models, platforms, etc ... what's to prevent the farmer from simply making sense of all their data with nothing more than a Google Workspace w/Gemini Enterprise account for $35 a month (as an example)? Not asking sarcastically, genuinely want to be educated on the answer. Tagging some people off the top of my head I think would have good answers. @nfaleide @NickHorob @LowBoomLowDrift @jakesmoker1 @PitstickFarms @AllamFarmer @HenkelAdam

Well, I have until 10/8 to return my Fold and I think I'm going to exercise that option. I like it when the screen is open, but not so much when it's closed. It's so much heavier in my pocket. It's very slippery without a case, but from what I have read, cases fall apart on these because of some required adhesive across the spine. 🤔 I like the idea of it, and as I said, it's nice when the screen is open, but only for some applications. For example, when you're watching YouTube and you go full screen, it's really only the size of one of the halves, which means it's be no different than taking a non-foldable phone and turning it sideways. It's kind of hard to hold in the open position when you're mobile, and I travel a lot, so mobility is important to me. Perhaps the Samsung version would have been better, as it's much lighter, thinner, and a bit smaller, but I just can't get past all the Samsung bloatware that I have no need for.
I think this time, I'm going to fold.

"All roads lead to Rome" as they say. Decisions = Progress. Make a decision. Learn from it, but be open to other ways of execution.
Ego is the primary obstacle to good decision-making. Leaders often attach their identity to a decision and resist adjustments.

Earlier this year I started a single member consulting business. I run things lean at @farmwave and this one was no different. @basecamp and @heyhey that's it. This morning was my first kickoff meeting with a new client in Atlanta. Got there early, reviewing some notes and suddenly everything stopped. Email and project work was down 20 minutes before meeting time. Because of the way this company is transparent about outages, and they communicate with their customers, I wasn't worried. They were all over it and all was back up in time for the meeting. And even if it wasn't, so what. Things happen. It's just nice to know that even when something breaks, you know where you stand with this company. They're on it. Thanks Jillian and Chris for the comms and hard work this morning. I appreciate your team. Still a loyal customer ... 19 years and counting.
The postmortem for today’s @basecamp and @heyhey outage is here, with details on the cause and the fix. We’re sorry for interrupting your work. 37status.com/incidents/l1yn9…

I got to "drive" a friends @Tesla Cybertruck this morning. The experience makes you look at a lot of things differently, even from a psychological perspective. It also makes you look at others and wonder why they're still doing what they're doing. Impressive.

We've been quiet at @farmwave . Why? We're working. Right now, we don't have time for shows, social media content, or expressing yet another opinion on agtech. We thought we'd make it public the progress we're making. So, here's a link to a public board so everyone can see. 🚀 = new feature 🔥 = issue/bug we're working on. public.app.basecamp.com/p/S4…

I really appreciate the military / veteran discount places give. Truly. But could we all get on the same page with a unified system please? ID Me, GovX, Sheer, Home Depot has their own, etc. This is so much harder than it needs to be. @elonmusk can we get a Veteran badge or something on here and simplify this?

I can relate so well. Maybe we tie for non-luckiest entrepreneur of all time. I was never big and important, but always turned toward the line. I thought that's just what you did. Ran out of cash several times and I still don't have a salary!
“I was running a $70 billion company the way somebody who thought he was going to starve next week would run it." "Every decision I made at Uber, I defend to this day.“ “The problem was I ran too close to the line in too many situations. When you're big and important, the scrutiny and expectation is that you don't run that close to the line, even if it's correct. That is a thing I definitely did not understand.” “It comes from what I did before Uber. First four years, no salary, ran out of money several times, super grind, lose all friends. The non-luckiest entrepreneur journey of all time.” “It was so hard that I had to be epically precise and hardcore just to pay the bills and go to the grocery store next week. And that precision and intensity made Uber what it was.” — Travis Kalanick @travisk

This is a great piece by @emilychangtv on someone who has been an inspiration to me for years, @drfeifei . She's brilliant and it's fascinating how she thinks about AI and our world. I studied the work and papers of Dr. Li, and we applied similar practices to farmwave very early on. Many think of Farmwave and the work we've done, (which is much more than harvest loss monitoring), as simple vision AI. But spatial computing has always played a role in what we're doing. Colors. Shapes, Sizes, Dimensions, Distances ... Spaces. youtu.be/ITxsc3mgqts?si=UhBd…

If you're an entrepreneur, this @davidsenra episode with @travisk is full of great lessons. Some I heard before from @vkhosla and should've listened then but lost my way. 😑 Too late for me, but hopefully not for others. youtu.be/QVnU5lGlKE8?is=hBVq…

Been binge listening to @davidsenra podcast lately. The first one to pop in my feed was @jasonfried and then @dhh (algorithms sensed the 19 year user of @37signals) ...but the latest one with @travisk is equally impressive. I love how the podcast just ... starts. Check it out: youtube.com/@DavidSenra
