Our preclinical MRI is finally at @IBECBarcelona. We can't wait to start getting hyperpolarisation-enhanced magnetic resonance images! @mipmed @bruker

So sad to share this news about Jake Schaefer, one of the pioneers of solid-state #NMR. He was a mentor and colleague to me for 2 decades at WashU, and he touched many lives. Our labs are emptier today with his absence. May his memory a blessing to all who learned from him.
Nice job @_philiplee @MichaelOhliger
What are the major challenges of whole-abdomen carbon-13 metabolic imaging? Assistant Professor Cornelius von Morze, PhD (@cvonmorze), et al. share their insights in "Whole-Abdomen Metabolic Imaging of Healthy Volunteers Using Hyperpolarized [1-13C]pyruvate MRI." #MIRresearch

Rebooting the St. Louis #NMR discussion group with @cvonmorze and @sophiahayes next Wednesday (06/15) at 9 am CST in Wrighton Hall Room 201 @WUSTL. Profs. Joseph Ackerman & Joel Garbow will present about imaging tumor metabolism using deuterium MRI. Hope to see you there!
St Louisians came out in force tonight for reproductive rights! 💪 Inspiring words from Rep @CoriBush on the courthouse steps.

![Experimental setup, hyperpolarized 13C NMR spectra, and clinical results: (A) Positioning of 8-channel paddle radiofrequency array receive coils and axial 1H MRI; (B) 13C MR spectra from each participant; (C) Metabolic cardiac MRI in patients with breast cancer shows a decrease in the cardiac mitochondrial pyruvate flux by measurement of hyperpolarized [13C]bicarbonate/total carbon early after standard of care doxorubicin therapy, consistent with discrete mitochondrial damage. These changes occurred in parallel with significant changes in LV global longitudinal strain (D) and high sensitivity troponin. These results await further evaluation for clinical significance as a new biomarker for personalized cardio-metabolic interventions.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EkXKRTWXgAE5bYk.jpg?name=small&format=webp)
