The omicron variant is NOT mild.
Hospitalisations are 40-45% less likely than with the delta variant (imperial.ac.uk/mrc-global-in…), but the delta variant is >2x more severe than the original strain (cmaj.ca/content/193/42/E1619).
The omicron variant is AT LEAST as bad as the 2020 virus.

Wir behandeln derzeit auf Station vor allem ungeimpfte Menschen unter 40. Viele hielten ein "gutes Immunsystem" für ausreichend gegen Covid-19. Das Immunsystem ist aber keine "magische Barriere", es braucht zielgerichtete Werkzeuge gegen Erreger, z.B. die richtigen Antikörper.

But that's cos we've had 2 epidemics - 1 declining (B.1.1.7) and 1 growing (B.1.617.2). While B.1.1.7 remained dominant, it masked the growth of B.1.617.2 and kept case numbers down.
