I would love to see a similar program for District 3 @ByronAmos. We have the lowest % of drivers and highest % of walkers, bikers, and transit riders of any district, but our streets are some of the most dangerous. We need sidewalks, bus stops and bike lanes in D3.
Thanks @LilianaforATL for sharing this info! Residents of District 5, check out the process and get involved in participatory budgeting for district transportation $ (Last year voters authored $750M infrastructure funds incl $1.5M discretionary transportation funds per district)

Want to learn about zoning, why it matters, and how we can do it better? I'm excited to share some courses I've been working on with @plnzcourses based on our work at @code_studio. This one covers the basics of a better approach to zoning.

And this one does a deeper dive into development codes that encourage – or even allow – infill and incremental development.

Planners, architect, and community leaders: I’ve been working with @plnzcourses on some exciting courses on zoning based on work we do at @code_studio, the first one is previewed below. Other zoning-related course ideas welcomed!
Planetizen Courses is premiering a video on zoning at the top of the hour. Join the premier to be the first to see the film, learn about zoning from @cs_dodson, and chat with Planetizen's James Brasuell and Diana Ionescu.

Maybe this means we can spend the next 4 years investing in quality public spaces and walkable development to benefit all Atlantans.
More bike lanes, transit, sidewalks, street trees, and mixed-use development please.

Two of my favorite things: @99piorg and zoning

1 The I-20 on-ramp at Bill Kennedy has been an awful example of how our interstate system has worsened inequity while complicating our efforts reclaim our urban spaces. Bill Kennedy gets headlines because of the @AtlantaBeltLine, but it's not the only place where this happens.
It happened again last night...I biked through broken glass and around concrete medians pushed into the @AtlantaBeltLine this morning on my commute. @ATL311
Come work with me at @Code_Studio on interesting and impactful projects in cities across the US - we have 2 open positions. Bonus if you live in Atlanta, we can collaborate in person.

On a run yesterday, I experienced this research first hand. Streets lined with trees feel safer and more comfortable than stretches like Hollowell Prkwy with bad sidewalks and no trees. Good urban design and healthy/equitable cities go hand in hand - excited to see more research.

A short stretch of Peachtree Street is going on a diet—the kind that slims down the notoriously car-choked corridor from four lanes to just two, freeing up space to provide pedestrians some much-needed breathing room.

On this momentous 50th birthday for Amtrak, I want to thank everyone whose hard work has kept the trains running and opened up possibilities for so many people over the years.
I believe that the best days for Amtrak, for rail, and for America are still ahead.
I love seeing our elected officials out riding bikes, taking transit, and walking down the street. It may seem simple, but experiencing the City out from behind the steering wheel means projects get funded that make our streets humane and dignified for all users. #SafeStreets
