Here is a clip from the sitting of the House with the Deputy Speaker's remarks in context. He did not in anyway state what is being implied. #Uganda
How can the whole sit down to discuss how a nurse is a low person who can't head a department? Is the voice for @Thomas_Tayebwa ? @Parliament_Ug

I have high respect for our nurses both in academia and those serving in our health facilities . To set the record straight, yesterday in my communication on the floor of parliament, I mentioned that we have nurses with PhDs and who can be amazing leaders.

UPDATES Following our engagement with the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker through our Secretary General, the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker has clarified that the video in circulation was altered and the original message edited. We thank the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker for guiding the House and for the respect shown to our profession. We urge the public, colleagues and media to stop sharing the altered clip and to rely on official Parliament sources. Nurses and midwives remain committed to constructive dialogue and to serving Uganda. @Thomas_Tayebwa @cristus2016 and @Parliament_Ug END

The team lead by the board secretary @The_muramuzi of the association joined the rest of other health professionals for The Dream Walk. This initiative was organized by @GiftGrace01 to inspire and share experiences and professional career choices with children from underserved communities of Katwe, Kampala Uganda. NOTICE To every nursing and midwifery intern stepping onto the hospital wards across Uganda for the next 12 months, congratulations! As you report to your deployment sites, mastering modern models of care, structured learning, and essential competencies will define your success. To achieve success, here are 6 core areas you shouldn't miss during your internship year. 1. Meticulous clinical documentation: Incomplete patient records compromise patient safety, continuity of care, teamwork, and legal protection; your contribution to patient care may not be clearly evaluated and valued by authorities. Practice real-time, objective, and detailed documentation for every patient encounter. 2. Individualised rotation workplans & self-assessment. Ownership of your learning is key. Before starting each rotation, draft a clear workplan outlining the specific clinical competencies you aim to master. Use self-assessments and actively seek feedback from peers and seniors to evaluate your progress before the rotation ends. 3. Emergency triage & acute resuscitation. From busy National and Regional Referral casualty/emergency units to labor wards and ICUs/HDUs, master high-acuity protocols early: BLS/ACLS, Helping Babies Breathe (HBB/NRP), and emergency maternal management (e.g., PPH bundle care, and other care bundles), etc., 4. Interprofessional collaboration & communication. Healthcare is a team sport. Utilise structured communication tools like SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) during handovers and daily rounds to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams (doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and lab techs). 5. Digital health & EMR integration. Digital health integration is moving fast. Learn to navigate Electronic Medical Records (EMR), point-of-care diagnostics, and digital patient monitoring tools to drive efficient, evidence-based clinical decision-making. 6. Compassionate, respectful & preventive care. Prioritise respectful maternity care (RMC), trauma-informed approaches, and patient-centered decision-making. Combine clinical skill with empathy, and participate in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) and clinical audits to minimize hospital-acquired infections. Wishing you resilience, growth, and clinical excellence over the next 12 months! @MinofHealthUG @FUMI_org @INMSAstudents @KumakechProf @rkalyes1 @MulagoReferral @MbararaHospital @DrOribaDan END
