Feeling really down after this morning. I never thought as a disabled teenager that if I made it to the age of 60 (next year) I'd not only be facing the same inaccessible environment but would now be a public enemy. Imagine being a disabled teen today? Jeezus.

Disabled people are more than 25% of the population. Disabled people are not a niche group. We don’t need disability awareness. We need ableism awareness and action to combat disability discrimination.

What that solidarity might look like: refusing to refer to the pandemic in the past tense, volunteering to test and limit exposure before visiting those friends, pushing to continue hybrid events, or just, you know, remembering we exist.

Reaffirming my unpopular belief that institutional accreditations are largely performative. We need to move past things like Athena SWAN, Disability Confident, etc as the ‘end point’ of our EDI work. More needs to be done. – at North East, England

same goes for calling disabled work “a call for inclusivity”. ableist nonsense. come review the content, the performance, the spectacle, without the “well done for participating” pat on the back, or “let the disableds join in” undertone.

For disabled people, inaccessibility is more than inconvenience. It is isolation. It is segregation. It is exclusion. It is discrimination. It is devaluation. It is trauma.

I saw Little Big Things, a new musical dealing with disability, yesterday (London's Soho Place theatre) . I'll have to write a review from my perspective. It was profound. It's absolutely great, go see it! A+!!

Genuine question; what’s the point in doing all the right things as a Disabled person if time and again the system just lets you down?! After a long day travelling up to Manchester working, book assistance for train up and back. Arrive at my station home and no one there
