We will explore how brain circuits give rise to the computational algorithms animals use to solve real-world problems - using the larval zebrafish as a model.

Fun part of the L’Oréal award ceremony was meeting the emcee, astronaut/super mom/scicommer @kelliegerardi . She’s returning to space in 2026 & you can now propose experiments for her team to do in space! Proposals due in Jan 👇

Replying to @bita137 @hubermanlab
It's also absurd to think that scientists are "wasting taxpayers money". The amount of $$ funding the NIH is a drop in the ocean compared with the military/industrial complex. The Pentagon couldn't find a few billion dollars due to a clerical error! responsiblestatecraft.org/pe…

Saw this at a museum last night. I think a good sign that the @Padres will beat the @Dodgers tonight. #ForTheFaithful
So much SfN FOMO!!! Love this team and glad they are hanging out in Chicago 💕
I think this is only the 2nd in-person SfN that I’ve missed in the last 12 years?! My fave part is always reconnecting w people from all the different stages of my career thus far 🧠💗

It has been challenging to watch this story of a friend and fellow lab member unfold. There’s so much I want to say but I’ll just expand on two important aspects of this experience I’m seeing others discuss, as well.
Science is built on trust. What happens when someone destroys it?
My first feature for @_TheTransmitter investigates the emotional and existential fallout for one lab in the aftermath of a misconduct case.

What proteins surround PIEZO1 on the cell surface? We used a mass spec proteomic approach to capture a snapshot of the PIEZO1 interactome. One of these candidates, CADM1/SynCAM, slows the inactivation kinetics of PIEZO1 with little effect on PIEZO2.

Always so proud to be a part of Ben’s scientific family tree 🤍 I wish I could have spoken with him more than a couple times, but I know that so much of the way Ben approached science was passed down to me from my PhD mentor, and I’m so grateful for that!
Happy Birthday Ben! Today would’ve been his 70th birthday. A renowned scientist who changed the way we see glia cells and the brain and a wonderful friend and advocate, Ben was an inspiration to us all. #neuroscience #glia #advocateforwomeninStem #TransRightsAreHumanRights
The RNAseq came back w a bunch of differentially expressed genes I didn’t recognize. Started looking them up. All cholesterol related!! I thought “Cool!! Microglia regulate EC cholesterol 😎”
Last but far from least, thank you to my Twitterless advisor Richard Daneman for his endless support & for instilling in me the utmost importance of scientific integrity!
