Most hiring marketplaces are designed perfectly for fake experts.
That sounds harsh, but look at how the game works.
Anyone can sign up. Anyone can list skills. Anyone can say they worked with 7-figure brands. Anyone can upload a clean portfolio. Anyone can buy fake reviews, copy someone else’s format, use AI to sound polished, undercut real experts, and get pushed higher because the platform rewards activity more than actual competence.
Then the founder is supposed to sit there and figure out who is real.
That is insane.
The marketplace gets to say, “Look how many applicants you got.”
But the owner is the one burning hours reading profiles, checking portfolios, asking follow-up questions, booking calls, and trying to catch the red flags before payroll starts.
And if the hire sucks, the platform still wins.
It already got the activity. It already got the transaction. And when you come back to replace the person, it gets another shot at making money from the same problem it never solved.
That is why I think most marketplaces are not actually built to protect owners.
They are built to create more transactions.
CoTrain is taking the opposite side.
Experts do not get thrown in front of owners because they made a nice profile. They get interviewed, questioned, vetted, and validated before they are visible.
We check the work. We ask what they owned. We look for proof. We make them explain their thinking. We review whether their experience actually matches the role they claim they can do.
If they cannot explain the work, they do not get through.
And owners pay 0% fees to post, review, message, schedule, hire, pay invoices, or use escrow.
Because the future of hiring marketplaces should not be “more applicants.”
It should be fewer people pretending.
You should not have to pay a marketplace before it proves the applicants are worth seeing.
That is the part that feels insane as an owner.
You post a role because something in the business is already slowing you down. You need a media buyer, operator, editor, creative strategist, retention marketer, closer, or someone who can actually own the seat.
Then the marketplace gives you a pile of profiles and still makes you do the hardest part yourself.
You have to read every application, check every portfolio, question every case study, book every call, and figure out who is real while still running the company.
And somehow, you are paying fees for that.
Pay to post. Pay to hire. Pay on the invoice. Pay on the transaction. Pay again when the first hire does not work and you have to restart.
That is backwards.
If the marketplace did not interview them, question them, check their work, validate their experience, or remove the people who were never worth your time, what exactly are you paying for?
CoTrain is built differently.
Owners pay 0% fees.
You can post roles, review vetted experts, message, schedule, hire, pay invoices, and use escrow without CoTrain adding a percentage on top.
And before experts get in front of owners, they are interviewed, questioned, vetted, and validated.
The marketplace should not charge founders for a bigger pile of homework.
It should make hiring easier to trust.
“Verified” is the biggest lie in hiring marketplaces.
It sounds serious until you realize what it usually means: someone uploaded an ID, passed a basic account check, or kept enough clients from complaining long enough to earn a badge.
That might prove the person exists. It does not prove they can do the work.
It does not prove they actually managed the ad account in their portfolio, wrote the emails they’re showing you, owned the result in the case study, or know what to do when the role gets hard.
So the owner still ends up doing the real verification themselves.
They get on the call. They ask the questions. They chase the proof. They compare the portfolio to the resume. They try to figure out if the person actually owned the work or was just standing near it.
That is not verification.
That is the marketplace handing the founder homework.
CoTrain is built differently.
Verified does not mean “this person uploaded a driver’s license.”
It means they were interviewed, questioned, vetted, and validated before they ever got shown to owners.
We ask about the work. We ask what they owned. We check the portfolio. We look at the resume. We make them explain their experience and how they think through the role.
If they cannot explain the work, they do not get through.
That is what verified should have meant the whole time.
Daejon Love would’ve been COOKED on CoTrain 😭
Our interviewers would’ve questioned vigorously, checked the resume, validated the experience, called the references, and hit bro with the FAILED stamp by lunch.
“Trust me I played for the 49ers” is not passing verification here.
Phony fraud activities denied.
All our experts are interviewed, validated and vetted before they are allowed in our network, only A-Players here.

The future of hiring marketplaces starts here.
🚨 warning to all ecom founders
DON’T use CoTrain!!
there’s this free hiring marketplace where you post the role you need filled, and instead of spending weeks scrolling through X DMs, they source vetted experts for you
in some cases, they even go outbound and headhunt for the role for free
super sketchy stuff…
owners are hiring CS, editors, operators, and media buyers after wasting weeks trying to find someone good themselves
experts are joining the marketplace and closing clients from brands doing $5m+ months
applicants come with intro videos, work history, portfolios, proof, and are interviewed/vetted before you even speak to them
being this dependent on random DMs is not good for your business
would not recommend if you enjoy wasting time, babysitting weak hires, and pretending “send portfolio” is a hiring process
