Shameful BBC censorship of solidarity and humanity.
The BBC’s decision to cut this section of Akinola Davies Jr’s speech when the #Baftas was broadcast later in the day is shameful.
Thank you Akinola Davies Jr for using your platform to speak out for the rights of migrants and people facing and fleeing from persecution and mass atrocities - from the Congo to Sudan to Palestine.

🔥‘Gradam an Uachtaráin’ bronnta ar an ghníomhaí cearta agus teanga Fergus Ó hÍr & Ard-Fheis Chonradh na Gaeilge ar ais i mBéal Feirste don chéad uair ó 1996
✊Tá clú agus cáil ar Fergus Ó hÍr mar ghníomhaí teanga, pobail agus cearta i mBéal Feirste le fada an lá. Is feachtasóir iomráiteach ar son ceartas sóisialta é Fergus chomh maith as Iarthar Bhéal Feirste a bhfuil 50 bliain taithí aige le gluaiseachtaí agus i bhfeachtais éagsúla. Bhí sé lárnach san fheachtas ar son Chearta Sibhialta agus sa ghluaiseacht in éadan na mBlocanna H. Toghadh é mar chomhairleoir le Halla na Cathrach ar son Daonlathas an Phobail in 1981 agus lean sé ar aghaidh chun ról lárnach a imirt in athbheochan na Gaeilge mar phríomhoide ar Mheánscoil Feirste sna 90idí agus ina bhainisteoir ar Raidió Fáilte i mBéal Feirste ina dhiaidh sin. Toghadh Fergus ar Choiste Gnó Chonradh na Gaeilge ag Ard-Fheis Chonradh na Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste in 1996.
⭐️Ag labhairt ar Ghradam an Uachtaráin, dúirt Uachtarán Chonradh na Gaeilge, Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin:
🗣️“Is ollmhór an tionchar a bhí ag Fergus Ó hÍr ar Ghaeil Bhéal Feirste ar an phobal ó thuaidh le leathchead bliain anuas. Aithneoidh na mílte é mar ghníomhaí ar son an cheartais shoisialta agus aithneoidh glúin iomlán eile é mar an chéad Phríomhoide ar Mheánscoil Feirste, an chéad mheánscoil lán-Ghaeilge ó thuaidh. Chaith sé seal fada ansin mar Bhainisteoir ar Raidió Fáilte, áit a ndearna sé éachtaí ar son na meán craolta Gaeilge. D’imir sé tionchar claochlaitheach orm agus mo chairde scoile ar fad agus muid ag dul fríd an scoil, agus lasmuigh de gheataí na meánscoile, is beag feachtas nó mórshiúil ar son chearta an duine agus ar son na Gaeilge nach raibh baint ceannaireachta ag Fergus leo. Tá Fergus fós i gcroí lár saol na Gaeilge agus saol sóisialta na cathrach agus club folk á reáchtáil go seachtainiúl aige agus céirníní ceoil dá chuid saothar féin a chur amach aige. Tá muid go mór mór i dtuilleamaí Fergus de bharr na hoibre uilig atá déanta aige ar son phobal na Gaeilge i mBéal Feirste agus ar fud na tíre.”

This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine.
