In less than a week, on the 21st March @CambsCC will vote on whether to DESTROY its largest traditional orchard. A HABITAT OF PRINCIPAL IMPORTANCE, a 1000 trees, for a £200m tarmac road for buses. A loss @greatercambs claim can be “lessened to non-significant” in 30 years by “mitigation”, it cannot. Media, shine a light on those who have a vote so that we,
and the generations behind us, who will have to pay for their decision, can bear witness 🌳🚌❌🐝

Apple trees benefit all sorts of wildlife, but traditional orchards are now rare in the UK – around two thirds have been lost since 1960. So please plant apple trees to help bats, birds, butterflies and bees!

To allow gamekeepers to kill crows and jackdaws to "protect" pheasants and partridges, the pheasants and partridges are classed as livestock. But you aren't allowed to shoot livestock for sport, so when pheasants and partridges are being shot, they're classed as wildlife.

Biodiversity is changing. But why?
We investigate this question in large carnivores and find that the usual suspects of climate and land use change have an effect, but socioeconomics are the key!🙀

Mind blown.🤯There is a thing called 'whale carbon'. It's the amount of carbon stored in whale bodies, including "deadfalls" sunken on the sea floor. And if we restored global whale populations to pre-whaling levels, they'd sequester 1.7 billion tons of carbon/year. #bluecarbon

Priti Patel’s own parents left persecution in Uganda to come here. In 1972, Ted Heath agreed to take in 28,000 Ugandan Asians fleeing Idi Amin. 28,000 in one year, despite the protests of Enoch Powell.
And the daughter of that generation does them a dishonour.
"We can not accommodate 20,000 people in one go."
Home Secretary @pritipatel tells @KayBurley it is "important" to have a system "that delivers" regarding the new Afghan refugee scheme.
