BREAKING: 🇫🇷 A major cyberattack has hit supermarket refrigeration systems across France, reportedly causing fresh and frozen food to spoil after hackers remotely manipulated temperature controls. According to BFMTV, the attack began overnight from Sunday into Monday, targeting older versions of refrigeration-control software supplied by Danish company Danfoss. The attackers allegedly exploited the systems’ defrosting function, forcing refrigeration equipment to heat continuously instead of keeping products cold. Temperatures were reportedly set as high as 50°C, destroying entire stocks of food within hours. Several major supermarket chains have been affected, including Intermarché, Super U and E.Leclerc. Metro stores and independent businesses, including butcher shops also have been impacted. Around 150 Intermarché stores are reportedly affected, according to industry sources cited by BFMTV. The full number of affected locations remains unclear. The financial damage is already significant. In Haguenau, Alsace, an Intermarché store reportedly lost its entire frozen-food stock, worth approximately €50,000. A nearby Super U allegedly had to discard both fresh and frozen products, with losses estimated at €220,000. An E.Leclerc store in the same town was also affected, although its losses had not yet been calculated. The combined losses reported at the Intermarché and Super U stores in Haguenau alone amount to around €270,000. Nationwide damage could reach several million euros. Intermarché reportedly confirmed the incident in an internal communication, warning that several stores had suffered losses of frozen products. Coopérative U also acknowledged the attack and established crisis teams to assist affected stores and coordinate with refrigeration specialists. Technical investigations are ongoing, and the full extent of the damage has yet to be established. Authorities and companies are still working to determine the full circumstances of the attack. The identity of the perpetrators has not been confirmed.

At long last, we have given Claude a wet lab, as in the classic sci-fi novel Don't Give Claude a Wet Lab.
SITUATION DETECTED: Anthropic has set up a wet lab in the San Francisco Bay Area for physical biology work. It wants to unlock treatments for rare diseases, and its research has now gone beyond in silico evaluations, per Reuters.

ANTHROPIC MORONS JUST GAVE UP INCREDIBLE INTELLIGENCE CHANNEL RATHER THAN QUIETLY INFORMING U.S. GOV. THEY MIGHT BE EVEN DUMBER THAN THE IRANIANS.
Holy shit. Anthropic caught Iran using Claude to target Navy bases, automate dossiers on Americans, and run influence campaigns on US social media. Details are insane. The morons uploaded everything including the organization plans of the Ayatollah's funderal lmao

We benchmarked DeepSeek V4.1 Flash by @deepseek_ai . It reached 98% of GPT-6 Astra’s score at 1.4% of the cost on everyday design tasks based on user requests. Every model except Astra scored lower AND cost more. Are open models overtaking closed ones? Full results below ↘️

The AI Singularity The argument goes like this: 1. Humans build an AGI. 2. The AGI becomes good at AI research. 3. It designs a smarter AI. 4. That smarter AI designs an even smarter AI. 5. The cycle repeats faster and faster. Looking at the results and capabilities from the various labs over the past few weeks I would say we are firmly in this loop now. The next 18months will be wild. Recursive self improvement will dramatically increase capability very quickly from here. Marginal costs of all models will go to ~$0.

GPT-6 Astra is here. We hope it will begin to enable a new generation of entrepreneurship, scientific discovery, and building. We believe it is the best model in the world for computer use, professional work, science, coding, cybersecurity, and more. It took us some extra time to ensure that we could meet the safety and alignment standards required for this capability level, but we think you’ll find it worth the wait. It scores 98% on FrontierMath Tier 4, 99.9% on ARC-AGI 3, and 100% on ExploitBench.

🚨 BREAKING: GPT-6 Astra has been added to the OpenAI API Launch in less than 24 hours
leo 🐾@synthwaveddSep 2
🚨 BREAKING: "gpt-6-astra" has been staged on the OpenAI API The OpenAI Responses API now returns a 404 Not Found for "gpt-6-astra", where garbage/actually non-existent slugs return 400s - a 404 is also returned for 5.6 Cyber, which we know exists. A similar quirk exists in the Bedrock API used to find Fable 5.1 a day prior to launch.

fable is ok but astra will blow it away tomorrow. it comfortably exceeds my definition of agi, by a wide old margin. it has personality, design taste, super human computer use and speed. and of course, large jumps across every domain. release is now confirmed for tomorrow so the wait is almost over. ssi news to come.

openai.com/index/path-to-ast… Astra achieves a full 100% success rate on ExploitBench, so we had to build an internal refresh using newly disclosed vulnerabilities from June through August that fall after the model’s knowledge cutoff. On this refreshed benchmark, Astra remains dramatically stronger than GPT-5.6 Sol while using far fewer tokens. This result, together with several other pieces of evidence, has led us to believe that Astra has reached the “cyber-critical” capability threshold under our Preparedness Framework.
