Seems like a good time to convene a workhop on Mastodon basics. Blind and #a11Y allied folks - anyone actually - let's do this!

Dear @Meetup: Alert! I've spoken at #Meetups in SF, Chicago, Toronto about digital accessibility + disability inclusion. It is SO DISAPPOINTING to find an overlay on your site. Please take it down ASAP if you care about Meetups being inclusive overlayfactsheet.com/ #a11y 1/2

I learned a valuable lesson: I cannot follow my script when giving an IRL talk.

Quick(er) Note on ARIA and Windows High Contrast Mode

pruned out some outdated info, and provided an example of styling ARIA links and buttons with high contrast media queries (legacy -ms- and standard forced-colors)

Replying to @6thgrade4ever
this is literally how the repository handling all time zone data in software is handled. Its just one dude being sent newspaper articles about how Zimbabwe is gonna skip Daylight Savings time and then he puts it in a spreadsheet and like all software uses that.

As folks in some states are preparing for what to do next, please remember that the underlying technology of ad tech has been used to prosecute both doctors and those who receive abortions. motherjones.com/politics/202…

I'm honored Ben asked me to guest host Some Antics next week, and I'm really looking forward to chatting with @codingchaos!
Plan to join us - it's an important topic for anyone building complex and custom controls and UI.

Hey #Neurodivergent fam, I've got a question. I'm working on a big talk about how NT people can be allies to their #ND coworkers.
I'm wondering, if your team was REALLY listening about your work barriers & how they could be removed, what would you say? #ActuallyAutistic #ADHD

Hopefully one last time: Restyling native HTML radio buttons and checkboxes. NO use of visually hidden inputs. Give it a read.

Link vs button is a distraction from more important #a11y conversations. Change my mind.

Them: we just want a checklist for accessibility.
Also them, later: why didn’t you tell us about all these things that aren’t as simple as a checking off a checklist?

For today's "This Shouldn't Be a Spicy Take", links shouldn't ONLY be styled as links because visual button hierarchy is a huge Cognitive Accessibility feature. The difference between "Continue" & "Cancel" should be visually represented & button styling is a great way to do it
