Hey friends, I've decided to leave this hellscape of an app until it's under new management. In the meantime I've decided to head over to BlueSky, @ShellELittle. Feel free to follow me there as I'll be dropping some updates on my inclusive designer course & lectures there! 👀💙

Over the last several months, I have been investigating rumors that games accessibility advocate Susan Banks, Tubi Hamid, and Deb Vaughan were real people. Here's what I found: ign.com/articles/a-prominent…

This is required reading. Grant has spent months investigating this and gone through extreme emotional turmoil writing it. He is extremely trustworthy, and his journalistic integrity is solid. The accessibility community is hurting today, but we will endure. While we are dealing with the outcome of this, please be kind to the community, including Grant.
My thoughts: If you've seen me in person the past few months and I've seemed off, this is why. Someone I trusted, worked with, made content with, and confided in broke my heart with all his lies, including hearing about outrageous lies he has told about me to other people. But I am also not the only one this has happened to. I'll be okay. We'll be okay. We're just dealing with a lot.

For games accessibility folks reading the IGN news - please be kind to yourself, and be kind to others.
This'll be heavy news for the community, with so many of us having been connected with the person & situations discussed. We'll get through it together, as we have done before

Doing my monthly watching of @ShellELittle's Accessibility to Burnout Pipeline talk from axecon since it's a high anxiety day and a free talk is cheaper than therapy.

A new Access Designed is up! 2023 is full of surprise accessibility announcements, both hardware and software. For this year's GAAD, I decided to list some of my favorites. Read my latest column on @IGN here:

"shells been running into some accessibility barriers and going to Write A Talk About It"
MAYBE! 👺😈
My next #GameAccessibility talk is officially going to be around designing games with light sensitivity, photophobia, and flashing sensitivity in mind. This includes people with migraines, brain injuries, sensory issues, and epilepsy. What cha think @GA_Conf @a11yTO??? 👀👀👀

Needless to say, the production on my #A11yDesign course content & lectures such as my highly requested "Understanding Disability Theory, Language, & Etiquette" are briefly on hold while I recover. But rest assured, I'm still very excited to get this content to those who want it!

Remote work is accessible work.
When companies, especially tech ones marketing accessibility this #GAAD, are unwilling to accommodate disabled employees in roles that can be remote, it speaks for itself.

Subtitle usage data:
Sniper Elite 5: 95%
Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga: 95%
Assassins Creed Odyssey: 95%
Far Cry New Dawn: 97%
Guardians of the Galaxy: 97%
You CANNOT afford to have subpar subtitle presentation or content. Don't let them be an afterthought.

Yet another game sharing 95%+ usage data for subtitles.
Even when turned off by default over 60% of players turn them on (so don't have them off by default).
#gamedev #indiedev, most subtitles in games are still poor. Invest in good subtitles.

If you're wondering why I'm beyond livid at the IAAP for taking money from Audioeyes, you can learn more here. Tl;dr Audioeyes is suing Adrian Roselli for defamation. DEFAMATION!
Going after one of us is going after all of us. The a11y community will remember this.
This quoted post is unavailable.
I will _never_ support the IAAP or their certs after they continue to blatantly take money from the ACCESSIBILITY OVERLAY company that is SUING one of our own for speaking up against these snake oil clowns. I'd think twice about paying the IAAP a dime. The IAAP: Profit over PWD

I have read #accessiBe’s funding round / redemption tour and I am not swayed.
• the ‘apology’ is not on its site;
• old harmful content persists;
• the words are lifted from your fee labor;
• angry tech bros gonna tech bro?
