🧵 Yesterday we mapped the physical limits of the M4's Matrix Coprocessor. But raw speed isn't enough. Local inference forces a brutal trilemma: Speed (MLX) vs Formats (GGUF) vs Context (OOM). Today, v0.2 Targets this tradeoff. 🧵👇 mohamedhossammohamed.github.…
Apple’s M5 silicon achieves massive leaps in LLM prefill via hardware memory bandwidth scaling. But how much of that bottleneck can be solved purely in software on the *existing* M4? I built a custom Metal engine to find out. Results: ~3.7x kernel speedup. 🧵👇

Honest Question Forget north-south division, What exactly is the benfit for common Indians of having more MPs in India ? Tell me one MP who has done any significant work for the LS area or seat it represents ? It will jist cost Indian taxpayers expenses for 300 more VVIP MPs.

Obsidian is weird: - 7 full-time employees - ~1 million users per employee - fully remote - 1 in-person meetup per year - no scheduled meetings - no stand-ups - deep focus is prioritized - our manifesto guides our product What works for us may not work for you.

There are a lot of things that people hate in India. But the hate is usually divided amongst many things, ranging from actors to artisans. From two wheeler riders to privately owned cricket teams. But one thing that most Indians hate uniformly, across all strata of the society, are govt servants. Other than the respect that their position entails, most Indians don't like govt servants. They think they are petty, dictatorial, egotistic, create unnecessary roadblocks and raise pointless issues. And more importantly, everyone thinks they are corrupt. And the numerous cases of ridiculous corruption, ranging from a clerk to a collector, that we read about, validates this assertion. If ever there was a MasterCard Family Fortune question "Give us one word that describes Indian govt servants" the most popular answer would be Corrupt. This penchant for corruption sometimes surprises me. Because in India, you have to be genuinely blessed to get a govt job. Not because of the money, job security, assured promotion, lifelong pension, health insurance sort of things. Those things don't matter in the grand scheme of life. You are blessed, because you are among the few people who get the opportunity to do god's work on earth. You get to be in a position that can change lives. You can alleviate people from years of suffering and misery with the stroke of a pen. You can emancipate generations with a single order. Your can liberate people from tormented lives with a single signature. You can enable opportunities that people didn't know existed. What you think is mundane and boring work, can bring prosperity and happiness for thousands of people for decades together. You can remove obstacles that people pray to Lord Ganesha for. You can nurture aspirations like Lord Vishnu and destroy evil like Lord Shiva. You are in a position where what you do shall be remembered by hundreds of people for hundreds of years, long after you have gone away. You have the opportunity to occupy the sacred space that is usually reserved for Gods. You can literally change the world. But then a lot of govt employees trade all this for something as petty as money. It's like trading an iPhone pro max for a rotten lemon. Some even go to ridiculous lengths to earn that extra crore over the hundred or so crore they have already accumulated. They harm people, destroy innocent lives, risk dishonour and disrespect, all for some additional zeros in their bank account, which they will never probably use. Every Govt employee has a chance to leave a legacy that will last forever. But many choose to earn cash over that. In the Maslow's hierarchy of needs, money is classified at the bottom, along with food and sex. It is supposed to be a basic need a need that people need to evolve out of. Our Purusartha, the goals of life, also puts money at the bottom. The highest layer is something called Self Actualization. Or what the Purusartha calles, Moksha. People are supposed to get there. Or at least aspire to get there. Govt employees get the 12-lane expressway to reach self-actualization or Moksha Why many choose something as mundane as money over this, is beyond me.

A government is the “biggest gang,” with a local monopoly on violence. It’s good at preventing and stopping things. It’s bad at building and running things. Its main job is law and order, and a government which fails at that, is a failed government.

i was telling a friend that i treat almost everything new as an art project. mostly because the beginning of anything is just weird as hell. so many ppl try to run the “factory playbook” at this stage asking for too much feedback, layering on process, forcing rigidity. total delusion. half the time you don’t even have constraints yet. a painter lays down a stroke, then another, then maybe even scraps the canvas altogether. that’s how it should be with products, relationships, whatever. early on, the only sane move is to treat mostly everything as art. everything else is premature industrialization. wrote a small piece on this.

This 4 year old daughter of a street vendor died of rabies in Bengaluru. Badly bitten on the face on Apr 27, family endured months of struggle, panic, and desperation, only to see their beloved child meet a tragic end. 10,000 bites daily in India, mostly kids, almost all from poor or lower middle-class. Never the children of the privileged, never the children celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, John Abraham, Raveena Tandon, Bhumi Pednekar, Zoya Akhtar, or Shefali Shah may have today or tomorrow. Since their families will never face it, it’s not their problem. That’s why they never speak compassion when poor kids die of rabies. But the moment the SC ordered action on stray dogs, they suddenly discovered “compassion”, because right now, that’s the in thing and looks good on CV.

Let me know aur usecases chahiye toh - Farmers can use speech-based apps in Hindi or regional languages to get real-time weather updates, crop advice, and government scheme information without needing to read or write. - Students in rural areas can access educational content, tutorials, and exam preparation materials in their mother tongue using voice-enabled learning platforms. - Elderly users and those with limited literacy can use voice commands to make digital payments, check their bank balance, or get customer support in their native language. - Small shopkeepers can use multilingual chatbots to manage inventory, place orders with suppliers, and resolve customer queries without needing to navigate complex interfaces. - Healthcare workers in remote areas can dictate patient notes, access medical guidelines, and receive training in local languages through speech-to-text and AI-powered assistants. - Government helplines and public service portals can offer support in multiple Indian languages, making it easier for citizens to access welfare benefits and lodge grievances. - Regional news platforms can use Indic LLMs to automatically translate and generate news articles, ensuring timely and relevant information reaches diverse audiences. - Voice-enabled navigation systems in taxis and public transport apps can guide users in their preferred language, improving accessibility for tourists and non-English speakers. - E-commerce platforms can provide product recommendations, order tracking, and customer service in various Indian languages, enhancing the shopping experience for a wider audience. - Content creators and influencers can use Indic LLMs to generate subtitles, translate scripts, and create region-specific content, expanding their reach across linguistic boundaries. - Legal aid services can use speech recognition to transcribe client statements and provide legal advice in local languages, making justice more accessible. - Anyone can interact with smartphones, smart speakers, and IoT devices using their native language, making technology more intuitive and user-friendly for all Indians. - Banks and insurance companies use speech-to-speech LLMs to automate customer service calls in languages like Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi, handling millions of real-time interactions daily. - Virtual assistants in government portals help citizens fill out forms, check application status, and access welfare schemes in their local language, reducing the need for in-person visits. - Healthcare chatbots powered by Indic LLMs assist patients in scheduling appointments, understanding prescriptions, and following medical advice in regional languages. - E-learning platforms leverage speech models to deliver interactive lessons, quizzes, and feedback in languages such as Telugu, Kannada, and Assamese, increasing engagement among students in non-English medium schools. - AI-powered legal helplines transcribe client statements and provide legal guidance in Hindi and other Indian languages, making justice more accessible for low-income groups. - Multilingual voicebots in retail enable customers to check order status, initiate returns, and get product information in their preferred language, improving customer satisfaction. - Visual captioning and accessibility tools use speech and language models to generate image descriptions and video subtitles in Indian languages, making digital content more inclusive. - Document translation and summarisation tools powered by Indic LLMs help businesses and government agencies process large volumes of paperwork across multiple Indian languages efficiently. - AI models are being integrated into OCR and document layout parsing systems to digitise handwritten and printed records in various Indian scripts, aiding archival and administrative processes.
This will be a very interesting thought experiment. Are we releasing just for the sake of releasing or are we solving a problem? Are we really interested in solving a problem or just raising a PR for open source contributions?

Superbly articulated by Priyanka Joshi. "The world doesn’t know what to do with India. We don’t fit their neat little boxes. We’re not white. We’re not monotheistic. We’re not ex-colonizers or submissive ex-colonized. We are something they can’t decode. We are too many things at once—ancient and modern, spiritual and scientific, emotional and logical. We believe in gods and particles, karma and quantum. We’re chaos that somehow moves forward. That bothers them. Because we aren’t supposed to succeed. We don’t speak with one voice. We speak in thousands. Our system isn’t clean. It’s noisy. It debates. It screams. But it works—because we’ve lived through worse and survived. When we rise, they frown. When we achieve, they doubt. Because they still see us the way they chose to see us long ago—untrained, uncouth, and scattered. But we’ve always known how to turn our mess into movement. They don’t get that a billion people don’t need a single script. They fear our success because it didn’t come from their textbooks, their aid, or their approval. We remember being ruled, but we were never truly conquered. We adapted, absorbed, transformed—but never disappeared. And that is unsettling for those who thought we would. India rising doesn’t fit their world order. Because we didn’t wait for permission. We didn’t rise from imitation—we rose from memory, from contradiction, from sheer force of will. And that’s why they don’t celebrate our rise. They resist it. Because it wasn’t supposed to happen.”

Here you have an airforce which pummelled the adversary into a state of complete shock.A mauling so comprehensive that a whole generation of PAF officers will carry deep scars on their psyche for decades to come. From Nur Khan to Bholari , the message was loud and clear ; you can run but you cannot hide ! It was not a question of why but when ? The pièce de résistance of the entire campaign emerged when Chad boys disabled Sargodha’s main runway and then mockingly flew above the airbase as PAF looked on bewildered. And then to just rub it in , dropped a bunker buster on Kinara Hills to rub PAF’s nose into the ground. The nuclear bluff was called out so loudly that the reverberations were felt from Islamabad to DC. Halwa Atomi Bum ! The @IAF_MCC boys at Vayu Bhawan have a very twisted sense of humour which is colloquially called “Haramipan”.When Kinara was bombed one of the older faces in the Ops room gleamed knowingly. He could now hang his boots in peace knowing that , “An adversary that proudly calls itself the sole possessor of the Islamic Bomb and guardian of the Caliphate’s nuclear mecca was left devastated by the utter humiliation piled on it”. This half burnt portrait of Asif Ali Zardari from the smouldering debris of Rahimyar Khan airbase is symbolic. It has in many ways given us a legacy which complements Pakistan’s surrender at Dhaka in equal measure. Jai Hind ! Jai Hind Ke Sena ! #IndiaPakistanWar2025

My fellow South Indians. This is yet another reminder of how it is the north that has borne the brunt of invasions from our northwest over centuries. And that we in the south, ought to be inordinately thankful to the hardy men and women there. My gratitude to our northern brothers and sisters 🙏🙏🙏

The most frequent question that people ask when we open a new rural area (like our original Tenkasi office) is "where will we get the talent?" or "who will want to work there?" First some raw numbers. Almost anywhere in India, within a 30 km radius, there are at least 0.5 million people, often more than 2 million people - in a rural district! Our average population density of 350 people per sq km ensures this. States like UP have over 1000 people per sq km, so the average rural district has 3+ million people. 1 million rural population in India have about 15K children per year - that many children per year in a 30 km radius district. If we look closely, there is absolutely no shortage of raw talent anywhere in India. The entire entrepreneurial challenge is to find and nurture it. In the context of India and our demographics and our population density, the mantra is "the talent is already there, we just have to find and nurture it". This is so fundamental that I cannot stress it enough. What we look for to start is a couple of experienced people who want to move there for various reasons - may be that is their home, may be they want to serve this cause, may be they want to sign up for a new experience. There are enough such experienced people who are willing to volunteer to move. Whatever the reason, that initial "starting seed" (in crystal growth terminology) of experienced people is needed. Then we grow around them. This is the development trajectory I see for India.
