Captain Ibrahim Traoré stood before his nation and spoke a truth that had been buried for over a thousand years. He named the Arab slave trade. Not in whispers. Not in academic papers. But in a televised address, to a country that is overwhelmingly Muslim. "The people came, first the Arab-Muslim conquests. That is over a thousand years of slavery in Africa," he said. He spoke of men castrated so they could not father children. He named the year 1962, when the last slave market closed in Medina. He refused to let silence protect a historical crime. This was not an attack on Islam. Traoré is a Muslim himself. This was an act of reckoning. He was saying what the entire continent had been afraid to say: that Africa was enslaved by two systems, and only one of them is allowed to be remembered. The West's crime is taught in schools. The East's crime is erased. The reaction was swift and fierce. Gulf states condemned him. Some clerics called it Islamophobic. But Traoré pressed forward. He announced that Burkina Faso would recall hundreds of students studying Sharia law abroad, warning that some returned with teachings incompatible with national unity. He declared the state secular, and no religious law—Islamic or otherwise—would govern it. Why does this matter? Because the Sahel is burning. Jihadist groups are recruiting with a distorted version of faith, and that distortion has been imported and funded from outside Africa for centuries. By naming the Arab slave trade, Traoré severed the spiritual authority that foreign clerics have held over African Muslims. He asked a question that should echo across the continent: "Are we cursed?" His answer was no. Africa was not cursed. Africa was conquered, colonized, and enslaved by two different powers. And the only way to break free is to name it, teach it, and refuse to let it be silenced.

I co-authored a paper on why African mining deals keep going wrong, and what to do about it before anyone signs anything. Most available tools only score these mining contracts from one side. We built something that scores the same deal from both the host country AND the investor at the same time before signing. The gap tells you how likely it is to blow up. We tested it on the 2005 Liberia–Mittal Steel deal. Our index flagged high risk. It was renegotiated within a year. The paper was presented at the Russian-African Forum of Young Scientists 2026 @UNESCO at Saint Petersburg University. And yes, the @UnilagNigeria logo is on those slides because of me.🤭 I co-authored it with Sofia and Polina from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. I wasn't there to present physically, but I know my team killed it. I’m happy I did this with them fr❤️ Africa has 30% of the world's mineral reserves. Our governments deserve better tools at the table. Let’s do better!
I took my school’s name to an international stage😩

Twenty years ago I was drugged at a bar while studying abroad in Argentina. I ended up alone with a male classmate who sat next to me until sunrise while I slept it off in the booth of a 24hr diner. Some men are beyond decent. It mattered a lot. Thanks, Devin.

Thank you so much! ❤️ My journey into tech started at Learn Factory. When I was desperately looking for an internship and others said NO to me, you said YES. Even though I didn’t meet all the requirements to join, you still gave me a chance. That one YES changed the trajectory of my life, and I will never forget it. Thank you for believing in me when I was just starting out. ❤️ And if you’re in Abia State and you want to learn how to code, please go to Learn Factory. I am living proof of the impact they can have on someone’s journey. Sometimes, all someone needs is one person willing to give them a chance. ❤️
1) I am a proud father today. The young woman behind Lagos Life, the phenomenal game that pulled in over 2 million players in its first days, started her tech journey in our nondescript training room in Aba, Abia Her name is Shalom. This is her story & ours. This is a thread 1/25

I had a therapy session with a client on the #lagoslife game app, and I just got paid into my real life Opay account 😃 This is the first client that wanted everything to be done on the Lagoslife app, instead of transitioning to WhatsApp, Google meet or zoom. The client felt more autonomous and "hidden" in the game, which made them open up more in the sessions. We used voice note and text only. It first started as a short free therapy session that I gave. The client liked it and sent me game tokens (2 Billion tokens 😇), and then proceeded to book and continue with the fully detailed therapy session. . . If the developers can create the option for one-on-one calls in the chats, then I'd be happy to temporarily move my workplace to the Lagoslife app, and build on a platform created by one of our own (while still maintaining and protecting my profession's code of conduct/values) . . My Username is: Lagos_Therapist Kindly message me on the Lagoslife game app, for free short counsels or advices. Pay with any amount of your game tokens that you can afford. And if you want to take it further, we will discuss more about it in our personal chats (confidentiality assured) Either ways, whether you have real money or not, you will still experience therapy, don't worry. Life is too unstable not to have anyone to talk to about issues 🫂 . . My Username: Lagos_Therapist #lagoslife #LagosLifeGame #Thereisalwaysawayifyoulookforit #thefasteryouadaptthebetterforyou

The theory i have on this is, its possible mtn is selling smaller data plans as a big one to make more money. Your 800gig might not be 800gig on their system. AI says its legally risky for telcos to do this but knowing how the law works in Nigeria, MTN is likely doing this.

FibreX and MTN really lied to us when they said it was unlimited. Now they’ve made the network so bad that everyone is forced to install FibreX, only for that so-called “unlimited” plan to become limited. 🤦‍♂️ I installed FibreX at my family house, and it hasn’t even been up to a month—it’s already finished. 😭 At this point, it’s better to abandon this stuff and go for Starlink. 💀

Building a game like LagosLife Is better than going to BBNaija house now. $500k in 9 days versus whatever they are paying you in 3 months for disgracing your generation.

After seeing LagosLife, I was inspired by what everyone is building. Ready Player One is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I’ve always dreamed of living in the OASIS. So, I decided to try building my own version, 3D character and all! Once I got into the actual development, I realized how challenging it is. Dealing with lag, bugs, and complex systems gave me a huge appreciation for games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, it totally makes sense now why they use rooms and cap player numbers. I decided to pivot and build a more realistic version of Lagos life, which should hopefully be out tomorrow. I’m calling it Allworld. It’s all about city life and community, wherever you’re from. I'm keeping it simple and lightweight first to get the basics working properly, and then I'll keep iterating from there. If you'd still like to check out the initial buggy version, you can try it here: v1.joinallworld.com/
