The species I most wanted to see on my visit to Alaska was Spectacled Eider. I had to make the long visit up to Barrow to see this beautiful species. I was not disappointed! @USFWS @USFWSRefuges #Wildfowl #Alaska
I’m pretty sure I have just seen a Yellow-browed Warbler in my back garden. Tiny green Phyllosc warbler outside our conservatory. Showed very briefly on and off for a couple of minutes but could not get my bins on it. Very fast movement when feeding. Seen many crests here before.
Locally to me in the Bournemouth coastal area Clouded Yellows has done pretty well with c.173 seen a few days ago and yesterday I saw around 25 in a short stretch. On my way back I saw 3 helice females which I did not see on my way out. Here are those 3 plus a regular female.

Not what I am used to photographing from pelagics 14 miles west of Scilly! @Scillypelagics @OrioleBirding. One of 26+ butterflies out at sea today from 4+ species. This one - Clouded Yellow.
Lucky to find this beautiful Vestal, a migrant moth on our lawn. Seen them in moth traps before but never in broad daylight on our parched lawn. Love the pink.
A very fresh Red Admiral Flew into our conservatory today eventually settling. I coaxed it on to my finger and took it outside to the bottom of the garden to which it immediately flew back up the garden and back into the conservatory. Released it again. Possibly escaping the heat
M y trip to the Isle of Wight yesterday was an excellent day out for butterflies. I did not expect to see 4 Queen of Spain Fritillaries but was surprised how loyal to a particular area they were, males and female very active in the heat landing on flowers throughout the day.
Visited the south west of the Isle of Wight today to look for Queen of Spain Fritillaries. Manage to see 4 in the heat. Best was when I photographed a male and female together. Who knows they may breed here. @savebutterflies
What a great day out at Shipton Bellinger looking for Brown Hairstreaks. Males and females were seen, and the females were in superb condition. The male in the photo with the open wings was caught by a Crab Spider and a similar fate happened to a female too. Egg laying was seen.
Could not resist a visit to the Gloucester/Oxfordshire border yesterday to see the Long-tailed Shrike. Very well organised gathering and the Shrike showed well after a short wait. Typically it vanished for long periods. A new bird for Britain for me.
A recent visit for Heath Fritillary also produced these Scarlet Tiger moths. Not a moth I see very often locally.
An interesting day out at Knepp Rewilding today. I saw 6-8 Purple Emperors and found a freshly emerged Large Tortoiseshell basking on a cottage wall. It was there for well over 30minutes @BcSussex @savebutterflies @Birduder344
Made a special visit to Luckett to see the Heath Fritillary. I thought I was pushing it and it was getting a bit late but the majority I saw were surprisingly fresh. A variety interestingly marked individuals. @savebutterflies
After a few visits I have at last seen my first Silver-studded Blues up the road from my house in Christchurch. There were 8 males looking very fresh appearing after the heavy rain this morning. @savebutterflies
Doing well for Stag Beetles in my West Christchurch, Dorset, garden. 2 last night. One really big male and the other not so large. Then both together for comparison. Lucky to live in a good area for this magnificent beetle.
Adult male Red-footed Falcon at Holt Heath, Dorset. Spent a lot of time in one area hunting for insects. @DorsetBirdClub
Masked Booby from my recent trip to the Caribbean. Came in really close, quite a stunning bird and master flyer.

We had a surprise visit to a #NewForest stream recently. This #Razorbill was recorded on a trail camera probably resting after some weather pushed it off course.
The Razorbill is a coastal seabird and would usually be found in marine or intertidal water.
