The Blue Angels are the LOUDEST metaphor for the fact that the US spends WAY too much on the military instead of important things like education and health care.

We're putting the “park” in Park Avenue.    Today we released the final concept for the redesign of Park Avenue from 46th Street to 57th Street. This project will transform the stretch of Park Avenue to make it safer, greener, and more welcoming.

The NYC subway takes 5 million people daily A standard car takes up 130 square feet 5 mil * 130 = 650 million square feet That’s more space than Manhattan
My transit loving friends are going to hate me for this. It make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER to build virtually any sort of mass transit ever again. By the time its built (a decade, or in California a century) the advances in electric self driving cars make it obsolete.

It’s not practical to drive from Seattle to Miami, yet we have freeways connecting them. Curious. It’s almost Iike it’s an interconnected network.

My office has found that there are 371 public schools in NYC with no outdoor space for PE or recess, despite how important physical activity is for kids' physical and mental health. There's an obvious solution: allow these schools to use an adjacent street via the "School Streets" program. so that it's free of cars during school hours and open to students for exercise, play, pick-up, drop-off etc. 🧵

I'm listening to the LA mayoral debate and just heard one of the most insane questions of my political life: "What have you done to protect single family homes?" This is the most NIMBY boomer question Your housing is unaffordable because of the assumption that single family homes should be "protected" and other forms housing (row houses, apartments, duplexes, high-rises) should be ILLEGAL -- which is the case in every city in America If you want prices to come down, you have to LET CITIES BUILD

"Women use abortion as birth control." Cool. Name one woman who booked a surgical procedure, bled, cramped, took time off work, and paid $600 because she was too lazy to swallow a $12 pill. I'll wait.

You’re not going to win on Abundance, but you’re sure going to lose when you don’t do Abundance
Incoming Rep. Micah Lasher (D-NY): "“Abundance,” he said, referring to the pro-growth movemement, is a dud with voters. Lasher supports components of that agenda, but as an economic message, it’s “incomplete substantively and ineffective politically" politico.com/newsletters/mor…

When women say they don’t believe in feminism but vote, go to college, have careers, own property, have their own bank accounts, get divorced, and have abortions… turns out you’re a pretty big fan of feminism when it benefits you.

It doesn't take much of a mode shift to dramatically improve city transportation. If just 10% of people are able to walk, bike, scoot, or use public transit, the whole system works better. If you need to drive, then it's in your best interest to encourage multimodal options for other people.

NEW: New Yorkers have started a trend of tagging Mayor Zohran Mamdani to report problems around the city and the fixes are happening so quickly that the videos are going viral. A dangerous playground hazard was repaired after a resident wrote a letter. A pothole was filled the same day it was posted online. And ahead of this week’s heat wave, the city installed temporary water fountains in Prospect Park. The message from City Hall: no problem is too small to fix.
